electric fan

I'm looking into electric fans. Which size is best? I have seen little 12" inch ones all the way up to dual 15". Is it better to have a higher cfm or is there a point where it isn't necesary for more air flow. I've read a lot of the old posts but none of them seemed to cover these size questions.

Keep an eye on my post in Engines too. I'm looking for more info from those that have done it too.

Post is titled "Electric fans. Step inside and tell your story!"

That looks like one of those flex a lite s blade fans screwed into the factory shroud.
Does it include the thermostat, A/C switch, manuel overide switch? How many cfm?

Well, I ordered a flex a lite electric fan #250 this morning and should have it this afternoon. It is supposed to have a 5200 cfm rating. It is for a Chevy but measuring the radiator there is space for it. It is dual 14" fans with a shroud. On Chevy trucks there is a dyno test on their (flex a lite)web site claiming a 12 hp increase and 2 mpg. I don't know if this is true but if it decreases the engine load then I'll be okay with it. I hopefully will have it installed today also. Thanks for the input.

The JDM fan shown by Don C. is a two speed unit made from original Ford OEM components not Flexilite. It comes with a wiring kit which includes the temperture sensor and relay. I can't tell you the CFM but at low speed, it is more than adequate in 90+ degree weather with the AC on. On high speed, it sounds like you added a jet engine under your hood, and works well to help cool down the engine at the track.

Is there a reason you didn't get the 260? I think it's 2, 16er's and pulls 5200 cfm. I thought they recommended it if it's used as a primary fan. That may be in even heavier applications.

So it sounds like it really doesn't just bolt on. Your L is a little different, but it sounded like it should mount to the exsiting shroud brackets.
