Watch out for those RUST BUCKETS!!!
I raced a Dodge Daytona last night , you know the ones with a rusty four cylinder pulling it down the road! I nailed him at the line but when I was at around 80 and 3 car lenghts ahead of him, I saw his headlights coming up FAST!! He passed me when I was going 120 and the pedal to the metal. After that he stopped at a gas station and I stopped and asked him what he was running, he had a twin turbo on that little car with all kinds of goodies like functional ram air and a huge intake. He said the block had been boared and honed and a full blueprint of the engine. He was also running 175 shot of NOS. He said I would have whopped his a$$ he he didn't give it the juice. I felt a little better considering I would have beat him if he hadn't. I was a good sport about it and talked with him for like two hours. The car was a RUST bucket, I would have never expected him to walk the dog on me and he was the one who wanted to race!! So, I guess I will have to take the first loss with pride.
yep gotta watch out for the sleepers, good to know their still out there.
when i was in the army my buddy and i cruised around in his POS looking '69 charger. it looked like a possible project car at best. but the motor had over $8,000 in it. thing would eat up everything in it's path.

I'm in the beginning stages of building a sleeper right now: 1986 Mustang SVO - turbo charged 4 cylinder. I'm gonna try to get 350+rwhp with a small shot of juice. This on a 3100lb car... C-YA!
Sounds like it was the old 2.2L. My sister bought one new in '89. Was a shelby with I think 220 hp stock. Nice looking car and great wheels but the car was a piece of junk after just 3 years. Boy would that thing fly. Turbo had to be replaced under warranty at only 20000 miles.
