JDM and posting ????????????
JDM and posting ????????????
You can all say what ya want,Jim has hands on worked with some of the baddest L's there are.Everybody wants to give him S$$$ ,but the guy has his act together...It's not a matter of Johnny Lightning,PSP and JDM.It's a matter of an open forum and people asking and assisting us with our vehicles. You can close the thread I really don't care.People say they buy from all camps, that's bulls$$$.Your either for this guy that guy whatever. I have found that freedom to express our opinions only leads to better things for all of us.As the old addage goes you laern more from listening THAN FROM TALKING.I think closing the pervious thread was unfair and the topic should remain open.Personally all three of the guys were talking about and dealing with are pretty d$$$ decent and I have no regrets, they have all helped. It's what ya hear when you call and one company start s bashing another, that I have heard. And lets let customer SERVICE,that's SERVICE determine who we deal with.If I had everything I have had promised me on time my L would have come around alot faster than it did,so that aspect the big three need to address.
I find all the lightning guys darn nice guys and really great racers, but lets be fair here,if your going to let a person post, then at the end of their post is their business e mail your basically being unfair to the dealers you don'tlet ,so have a shot at that one. Myself I have gained alot of knowledge from the board.Seems like only two opinions are accepted here when were talking Manufacturuing, and mods!!!!!

First off, I have to admit I really do not have the first-hand perspective on what is currently going on between the vendors (or their customers), rather I supply this information as a general statement.
If I am not mistaken, JDM has voluntarily chosen to not post here. He has not been banned, nor was he ever asked by me or Doug to leave. I cannot even remember if he ever posted a message here that would have been deemed in violation of our clearly posted vendor terms. If I am incorrect in this statement, someone please let me know. (though the latter is possible during the heat of the anti-vendor period)
The F150online website and message boards exist soley for the education of the vehicle owners, not the vendors who want to use these boards to grow their customer base. (and I am not accusing anyone of that)
Understanding however, that there is a need for the knowledge that many vendors on these boards bring to not only the Lightning community, but the Ford truck community as a whole, I created the "Supporting Vendor" program.
For a small monthly fee, any vendor that has been an active and informed participant on these boards for at least a year is allowed to include company contact information in his/her signature, as well as respond to requests for information on their products. While out and out selling and conducting business is not allowed (and they are all aware of this) a "Supporting Vendor" does have the right to defend their products if called upon or forced to do so.
In looking over the recent closed threads, I have to defend my actions and the actions of Doug, an unpaid and hard-working moderator. None of the threads appeared to be closed due to a vendor bias (or non-bias), but rather because they degraded into "my tuner can beat up your tuner" threads or would have wound up as such. Such threads are of no benefit to anyone in this community, vendor or owner, and will continue to be discouraged and closed as they happen.
When I was in college, I had a fraternity brother that used to start out a lot of his sentences with "I've been around a long time, ok..." Generally this was followed by a statement of why someone he was speaking to was wrong in their statement. Well, in this case it seems appropriate to paraphrase...F150online has been around for almost five years. The forums are going on three years old. In that time, we have seen a lot of good and some bad. What we have noted is that consistent patterns appear and we look out for them.
If we close a thread because it appears to be going downhill or because in our best judgment we feel it will go downhill, our actions are for the benefit of the community as a whole, not an individual. Will we sometimes make a mistake? Yep, probably. But I would say that Doug and I get it right 99.8% of the time...and considering how many messages are on this board, that's a pretty good average.
Once again, I believe JDM is aware of his options and has made a conscious choice to not participate on F150online. Nobody in the Lightning community that hangs out here can or should be held responsible for that choice. Frankly, if Sal and I can make peace...well, I will leave it at that.

Have to get in my .02
First I will be going to JDM, so obviously I chose him over the other 2, my choice. I guess that makes me a JDM supporter.
Second Steve and Doug were correct in locking those threads, and I hope that they keep up the good work they are doing so far. Chip and Tuner wars are the biggest thing and frankly it gets annoying, even when you ignore the threads it just still goes on and on.
Third from what I've read it's the tuners who are the more *civil* ones. Everyone else that chose there x chip over y chip feels they need to defend their chosen tuner and eventually one person gets out of line and it becomes a domino affect, that is why threads get closed before the wars start.
And as far as I know Jim stopped posting here b/c how he was treated, and I don't remember either seeing Steve or Doug giving him the boot.

J MAN Well said.
I myself would like to see Jim back posting and helping us all out.
It is allways good to have a 3rd opinion, after all no one knows everything, and the more info we can learn can only be a good thing.

Hollywood here I come.....
...I've got a great idea to turn these "wars" into something good. A movie!
Forget the "The Fast and the Annoying", how about a movie about fast F150's, tricked Expy's and radical 9 second (from bolt-ons and bad a$$ tuning only) Lightnings. Tricked lift's and scrapers all on a mod binge. The plot is around rival Chip makers and super "high tech" high emotion tuners! The tuners are at war battleing for the ultimate, radical "Extreme" program. Maybe even a bad guy tuner from out of town that spits on ethics, and blows up an "L" with an over the edge tune!
Of course you need the hackers that track the tuners and try to steal propriatary information by planting worms on a forum to infiltrate the tuners "Labs" through the IP seeking worms.
A modern "West Side Story" with a twist "Swept Side Story"!
Whew, brainstorming by yourself is tiring....

This idea is mine. I get royalties so if you want the idea, let's talk and make it happen!

Sorry, didn't mean to take the tense edge off the post.

Wouldn't it be FUN to have the "Customer Service Wars"?...and let the Buffalo Chips fall where they may.
