Cool Soon to be L owner

Hello all. This is my first post. I just wanted to post and let everyone know that thursday I hope to be a new 99'L owner.

My question is mainly, what should I do before, as far as inspection of the truck goes? What to look for? Is there a way to tell if the IC is leaking at all?

After i purchase it, is there any preventative maint. that should be performed, such as having the IC inspected? Get it on a ticket that I have questions about it before the warranty runs out, etc?

Should I opt for the Ford extended warranty, is it really worth the money? Does anybody know a dealership that gives good pricing on the warranty?

Next step, modifications I believe it has an air intake kit on it already, not sure about a chip but i have one of those lined up already. Any modifications that result in good bang for the buck? What order of things, etc. Sorry for the questions, but i'm anxious to get started!

Chip & Filter, lower pulley, and shift kit are the biggest bang for your buck. have the dealer do a dye test on the intercooler. May not be a bad idea to have the run a code scan. Should tell you if it has a chip or had a chip at one time. Find out the build number and post it on this site. Very good chance that the previous owner may be lurking about.

Check the tread on the tires. They are not cheap and seem to melt away fast.

Can code scanners tell the dealer if you had a chip on the truck at one time? The reason I ask is because if I have any problems I was going to take the chip and filter out I wouldn't get any grief.

Regarding code scans detecting chips, my information is yes they can. Have not personally experienced it yet. According to several very reliable sources that even after disconnecting the battery, draining all residual voltage, and removing the chip it will still throw a code. I do not remember the code number but basically it is like an erroe message of "unknown code".
