overdrive around town?

I am curious about how many of you use the overdrive off button around town. I do most my driving around town and it is between 35-40 mph and I hate that it shifts into overdirve at like 35 mph. It kind of sucks.

It shifts and then If I apply a little go pedal it hunts. It ends up at like 1300 rpm at like 37 mph. I don't like that. I am ordering a chip and know that will help with the overdrive engagement, but how many of you just shut it off.

Would you use the off button around town or leave it alone.

Any opinions?

Paul

pgio:

I am constantly using the OD off button for aroung town driving, for engine braking, passing manuevers and for merging onto the highway. This is applicable to both of my trucks.

I believe that I have better control of the vehicle when the engine is in the mid-range RPMs, and do not have to wait for the slight lag on the transmission downshift.

Mine stays off until I hit the freeway. Always off around town.

Same here, OD goes on once on the highway, and off on the exit ramp. Now if only someone could figure out how to make it default to off.

I never turn mine off. The computer knows better than me, and the converter does not lock when it's off.
