Suspension Help!!! New Lightning Owner.
Hello F150 Online members,
My name is Jeff Brangers. I am a proud new Lightning owner and new to this site. I bought a red 2001 Lightning last October. I know a ton about fox mustangs, but am a virgin when it comes to the SVT Lightnings. The truck suspension is stock and I want to lower it front and back to hide some of the inner wheel well. I have done a lot of research about suspension mods for my year Lightning. If I wanted to lower the truck 1.5" in the front and 2.5" in the rear, which would be equal to a 2"/3" drop for regular F-150's, what would be the best suspension products to use for the front and rear, without breaking the bank? I want the truck to sit lower, reducing the roll, and want it to handle better. I want the suspension to be stiffer without compromising the nice ride, but not to the point of rupturing your sphincter when you hit a bump. I want the truck to level out after I lower it, so the above lowering dimensions of 1.5" front and 2.5" rear may not level it, and if so, please tell me. If I lower the front 1.5", will I have issues with the alignment? Also, if I lower the rear 2.5", will I have binding issues with the driveshaft? I have read that binding can occur when the trucks are lowered, I just don't know how much you can lower them before binding becomes an issue? I have lots of questions because I just don't know. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
