HELP: Anyone with 160* Thermostat

Before I go try taking things apart to find the thermostat, can any of you tell me the location of this thing?
Is it easy to replace?

I know alot of you don't like the idea of replacing the thermostat but i had some good results with my previous cars.

Thunder,

if you stand in front of your truck with the hood open, trace the large upper radiator hose back to the engine on the driver side of the blower to. the 'stat is located under the aluminum housing and does not require a new gasket when you swap it.

Just unbolt the housing and drop it in.

There are varying opinions on this one. I opted not to but give it a shot.

be careful not to get coolant in the spark plug wells.

Good luck

...Being too lazy to do a search to find the answer out myself, what ROUGHLY are the reasons not to put a 160* thermostat in vx. putting one in? "Why would a 6-foot tall Wookie want to live on Endor with 3-foot tall Ewoks?...It just doesn't make any sense!" (uh oh, he's using the Chewbakka defense!) later...

Being too lazy to do a search, you are probably also too lazy to ever install one so I won't bother to answer.

Personally, I fully am against lowering thermostats unless your tuner advises you to and programs you for it.

I seriously doubt you'll drop your temperature 20 degrees and even just a few can cause driveability issues or decreased power over the band. I think this mod is best left to the tuners.

There is no reason to be unhelpful. His main point was just playing. There is plenty of times where a LOT of us do not search and it's more enjoyable to have a current topic on this situation discussed.

Thanks guys.

noelvm: What's your problem? I did a search and get alot of "this is what i think about the thermostat" posts. I just asked about some specific information. I'm not to lazy to change it either, as a matter of fact I'm just waiting for the truck to cool off to change it.
