intercooler and chips
I work at a Ford dealership and I can tell you for sure. No, this information is not correct! none of the chips currently available on the market will cause an intercooler leak. However, the hoses going to and from the intercooler have a relatively small inner diameter, small enough that a chip could get caught up in there and cause a blockage which would probably restrict coolant flow. hope this helps.

A chip can not do any damage to your intercooler, if the dealer tries to tell you this they are full of bull.
They are leaking due to poor design, or poor workmanship or maybee from corrosion, and flexing.

I often thought (prayed) that since my truck was COMPLETELY stock that maybe this intercooler problem wouldn't happen. This turns out to be untrue as it happened anyway at 12k. So ya might as well put in the chip and have some fun.....the leak does not discriminate where mods are concerned.
It's a closed loop system that's either on(about 30 secs after truck is started) or it's off(stops when truck is shut off). The chips have absolutely, positively no effect whatsoever on the intercooler sytem. If a dealer is telling you it is he's either knowledgable on how it works and is telling you a lie to your face and should be avoided or is ignorant and should be avoided also.
