Base Timing

What is everybody running for base timing at idle? I see 13 on my Xcal 3 and wonder if this is too low. Is the X3 reading base timing or another value? The screen says spark advance.

I don't know whether to laugh at you or try to help you...

there are way to many variables to help determine what you are asking, and since you FAILED to provide us any details about your truck we an't help you out

if it's not 'causing you any issues leave it alone

1998 5.4L V8 with a KB, 42lb/hr injectors, 80mm pro-m mass air. Base timing at idle in drive with no throttle input. I am having an idle surge when I lightly tap and release the throttle in any gear, the rpms go up and down. This does not happen in neutral or park. Timing is dropping down to 2 degrees when this happens and then back up to 13 degrees at idle. Vacuum is also going up to 15 when this happens, but comes back down to 20 when it stabilizes. Does this sound more like a transmission issue, or do the timing values sound off. I have replaced the maf, put a new iac on, reset pcm, looked for vacuum leaks, changed plugs, checked tps voltage, and the list goes on.

you sure don't have a lightning

what fuel pump are you running?
do you have a working bypass accuator?
is the a/c cycling when this is happening?

BBK 255 l/hr fuel pump with kb boost a pump, a/c was off and not cycling, I do have a bypass and it is working. Problem only occurs when I tap and release the throttle. Idle hunts up and down a few times from 300rpm to about 900rpms and then stabilized.

That is what I thought too, but replacing the MAF and cleaning it did not work. No check engine light either.

Will do. I can log the voltage of the maf with autotap also. Do you know the voltage level it should read at idle?

there are way too many variables to determine that...

just likenyour spark load, you think that just because the motor is cutting back means it's not working correctly in the tune, when you obviously have some other issues you need to solve first before you worry about the tune
