Plug help guys

Plug help guys

I ordered some TR6 plugs from JDM and had them installed. I told them I had a chip and some exhaust. Thats it. The Lady recommended the TR6 and told me to gap them at .32

I had them installed and immediatly I noticed a spark back through the exhaust when I get on it hard. I called JDM back and talked to someone else. He said that I should have gapped them at .38 and that the truck would be ok if I drove it for a couple days... that the plugs would widen on their own. The problem does go away after I drive the truck a few minutes, but when I cut it off and let it sit a while it comes back again. This just happened yesterday. So should I keep driving it or have them re-gapped?? I don;t want to eff my truck up.

I ran them at .032 on my Lightning and Cobra and had no issues. Never heard the statement from anyone, anywhere, at anytime that they would widen on their own. I find it hard to believe anyone would make that statement. And gapping them at .038 and driving it for a couple of days would improve the condition is unbelieveable. Are you sure you understood what they said?
Don't sound like something they would say.

My brain hurts from reading your story. Who installed them? What is some Exhaust? Never heard of or seen spark back thru an exhaust! Pull the plugs and ensure gap is correct. I always gap mine to .035 and never had any issues. Maybe a plug is not seated correctly or not gapped correctly.Pulling plugs and corrective gapping will not F-up your truck. Installing them incorrectly can.

What she meant by "widening on their own" was that normal wear on the electrodes would increase the gap - although it'll take a while to increase the gap from .032 to .038.

"Spark through the exhaust?" Dont know what you mean by that except a "backfire?" An incorrect spark plug gap shouldn't cause that to occur.
