ok i got my L back from the shop today getting a new trans and after i shut off the truck it would not start again. I checked starter solenoid and one of the got to hot i guess and broke off. I replaced the solenoid with one from advanced auto but the new solenoid had 4 posts on it and the original only had 3. So i installed the solenoid and now when i turn the key the starter just clicks. You think i fried my starter to? and why were the starter solenoids different?

 

sounds like a dead battery, or swap the wire to the other terminal on the new solenoid.

I would make a call to the shop who done the work as well, sounds as if they may not have grounded to started correctly at the bell housing.
