Exhaust Question
Exhaust Question
I currently have a magnaflow exhaust on my 03L and would like something different. I have heard that Bassani was great but I have always heard "Flowmaster" was the best. Has anyone used the flowmaster kit for the L? I want something that isn't going to drone at cruising speeds but will wake up under the gas. I use my L as a daily driver and right now crusing down the road at 70 I have to turn my radio way up to drown out the exhaust sometimes. (even though the exhaust sounds better than the music most of the time!) lol
Any suggestions on a nice mellow exhaust? or feedback on Flowmaster?
Thanks

Exhaust question
Good question and something I have been through many times. I have a 01 L. I first put the flowmaster setup on it. Sounded good but pretty noisy on the highway. I changed that to Magnaflows and it was a different sound but still too loud for me. Everyone else loved it but they didn't have to drive it on the road. Go to some of the sites that have sound clips of different exhausts on Lightnings and see what YOU like. If money is a factor you can eliminate a few of the systems that I think are great. Personally, I just put the stock exhaust back on mine last week and am loving every minute I drive it. To each his own.
I'm an old man so I can't relate with you young guys taste in sound anyway!!
Enjoy your ride. They are expensive to own and maintain but worth it if you can afford it!

I run a FLOWMASTER exhaust on mine with NO cats. Loud rumble (like a truck) and at WOT it screams like a Banshee. NOT for the faint of heart at all. I get compliments all the time on how good it sounds. It doesn't sound like a Mustang or Camaro like some of the more expensive ones do.

From what I've read, cats will make a difference in sound. I have to run all 4 due to CA smog laws (maybe I don't HAVE to, but I'm not taking any chances). I had the Flowmaster catback first, then went to the Bassani catback. From the description of what you're looking for, I would go with the Flowmaster. On the highway, or cruising at 45, or at idle , it would purr. When I'd push the pedal down good, it would really speak. I went the Bassani route because I wanted it louder all the time.
