I added an Air Lift kit to my truck to help when I take my dirt bike out to the riding areas. My truck is lowered and my motorcycle carrier scrapped real bad when I went in and out of driveways before I installed the Slam Air kit. Now when I need to raise the back end up a little I just add some air and away I go. I had to pick up 900 lbs of rocks for my backyard last weekend so I added fifty pounds of air pressure and the rear of the truck didn't sag at all. It's an easy kit to install and it keeps your suspension otherwise unchanged. The first link below is the link for regular Lightnings, the second link is for lowered Lightnings. Below that is a picture of the kit. I give the kit a big thumbs up!

Measure from the middle of your wheel's center caps straight-up to the bottom of the fender on the front and the rear, then post that up with the year of your truck and someone here that has a stock truck your year can measure their truck and tell you how much of a difference you have and that will be your drop. Mine was dropped by the original owner but since I bought it at a Ford dealer I couldn't ask the owner what he had done to it so I did what I told you to do and one of the members told me what a stock 2003 was and I went from there.

The Monroe air shocks work really good as well... I actually have them installed in my '81 El Camino...

Monroe doesn't make an air shock that fits lightnings.

My measurements from the center cap to the bottom of the fender on the rear is approximately 18"-19"

Go with an air bag setup. It is a much smoother ride and the technology in them is far more superior then the air shocks.

I just checked my truck and it was between 16 inches and 16 1/2 inches.
