Question Lightning 1/8th times

I was at the track today, and saw a 99 or 00 L for the first time at the track. I was excited to see it run, and hopefully beat my buddy's LS1 camaro. But, it turned out this lady was drivin it, and didnt seem to be launching correctly. The temp was around 80-85F. Her best time was 8.95. Not what I expected. Could anyone help me understand this?

My stock best...

Well, minus the muffler anyways, is 8.789@82.xx (2.145 60')

With my current mods, 8.610@84.xx (2.088 60')
Next best is a 8.660@84.xx with a 2.178 60'.

I don't know that 8.95 is so bad for that temp. Depends on the mods. I run at an 1/8 mile track every week. When it was 49 degree last December I ran a 8.19 with a tail wind. Last Friday I ran between 8.59 and 8.62. BP was 29.7 and temp was in the low 80 but humidity went from 60 to 93 %. I also have a chip and lower pulley, and a maf and filter.

Well I can't match ZJL but my bets is 8.1... keep trying the heat really kills the engine, get a power cooler....

From what I have seen a stock L will run any where from a 9.1 to a 8.9. Our best time at the 1/8 mile, which was done under fair conditions, was a 7.66. Just waiting till it starts to cool off and hopefully go sub 7.5's.

Good times

Well, I went to the track last night for the test and tune. My buddy also brought his L. He has the Diablo chip, JL ram air, lower pulley, MAF and I think thats all. He ran a best of 8.74. He also had another good run, but had to get on the brakes because of breakout. These times were a lot better, more of what I expected. I guess that I have just heard so many good things about these trucks, I just thought they were the fastest things around. Also, the temp was around 76 or so when he made the 8.74 run.

5 runs at the last race:

9.1840
9.2266
9.2447
9.2275
9.2874

60' times were all 2.1xxx and r/t's were from .7xxx to 1.0xxx

This was with a Pro-M, aluminum driveshaft and MT E/T's. I just cannot launch this thing...

4 more passes at the races last night:

R/T ..... 60' ..... 1/8

.65 .... 2.07 .... 8.95
.72 .... 2.08 .... 9.01
.60 .... 2.06 .... 9.00 (on the brakes)
.70 .... 2.11 .... 9.05 (on the brakes)

It looks like my lower pulley is good for about 2 tenths in the eighth mile.
