Talking New Engine Getting 2001 Motor

I took truck in for intercooler leak(started around 15k, got to dealer at 16k), 2 weeks ago. Told them about leak and that sometimes would make noise at start up. Dealer called Ford and they decided to replace whole thing. Waited a week. Saw engine today, has date of 5/23/01 on valve cover. The blower front says Ford SVT on it, and intake temp sensor on right side insteed of left. Exhaust manifolds also look little diffrent, like come out more from motor and slower bends. Took pics of old motor and new motor. Looks like hit the condenser as pulling motor out :-(. Siad would be ready on monday.

I'm I the only one to get 2001 motor, or have others?

Dont get used to the blower They will be replacing the whole intake with new old style intercooler and giving you your old blower This is what they have done on ALL motor replaements.It is what Ford demands to be done because of federal regulation.This is what was done to mine also.You will also get the pully/balancer swap too The green coil packs are neat though

Same thing happened to me. Had the 3000 rpm rattle problem before shifting. They shipped a complete 2001 engine then swapped all the old upper stuff onto the long block. I was pretty disappointed about it but thats the way it goes sometimes.

My motor was put in friday. Still putting other stuff on(trans, rad, hoses). But was put in with new intake/blower on it. Do not belive would remove after installing. Belive would have changed out before putting in truck. Also belive the reson for whole thing is do to leak form intercooler, and noise. Tech said came with stuff to retrowfit. Also talked more with tech after first posts, he said that this is the second one he has done like this.

What is pulley/balancer swap? There was another lower blower pulley on radiator suport, but the old motor still had one on it. I did not look to see if coils was diffent (hope thats what your saying).

WOW, retrofit kit? That rox! Anyone else hear of this yet? Hopefully this is a good thing to come for those who get motor replacements.

Got truckback today. Does have the new blower and intake. The old lower pulley was not used. Me and wife drove around, with radio off, listing for noises(none so far). Dealer told me to take it easy first 500miles, then change oil, like every new motor. Thinkong about taking to track on friday if no rain, and have enough miles .

Would like to have dynoed before installing my PSP filter, cobra R trottlebody, and superchip. Does anyone think that chip will need to be adjusted like MMFF said they was going to do, after putting on 2001 intake setup?

Someone told me awhile ago that the 20 extra horses on the '01 was achieved with a different computer or program, and the engine differences between '99-'01 are unchanged. Is that true?

You will need a 2001 chip it seems now. Did they replace your puter w/ an '01 too?

If this is Ford's answer, they will make alot of people happy. However, like I said before;
The most sought after classic in 25 years will be an original matching #'s engined '99-'00 L.
OR
Everyone will be mysteriously only take their L to WillMall2's dealer. You may want to post their name and telephone #.

Wow.

I have a leaking intercooler and a disel noise on startup at times. Wonder if I can get a new motor! I'll have to call Downs Ford and pray to the various gods.
