Question Fan removal

I need help from anyone who has removed the fan from their truck. I know that the threads are reversed and the service manual says to use a special tool, but I do not want to buy it if I don't have to. What has everybody used to remove the fan????

The threads are not reversed on the fan they are on the lower pulley.

Screwdrive should work to keep water pump from moving while you remove the fan with big wrench or pipe wrench.

Or... go to NAPA parts and buy the right tool to hold water pump. Looks like big pair of sissors.

Thumbs up

John,

I assumed that the threads were reversed as they are at work with the 6.0l PSD II. I hope that I did not tighten it too much while trying to get it off!!!! Thanx for the help.
