Post My 2001 problems so far.

Only 2 problems at 2000 miles.

First, when the wheel is turned to either lock position it makes an anoying noise, I think it sounds a little like a clunk and snap into place.

Second - passenger side when, when it goes down it's normal speed about 1/3's down then gets slower, at 2/3 it's to an almost stopped but barely crawling, and then it resumes normal speed. Kinda like it gets snagged halfway down. Maybe I messed up something when I put in new speakers.

And another thing, has anyone noticed that these vehicles get very hot. I let my truck sit for like and hour and it was still hotter then my moms explorer which sat for the same amount of time. And when I drive around at night with the windows down, I have a nice cool breeze on my upper body, but my legs and feet feel like the heater is blowing on them.

I had mine jam; get the dang thing replaced even if it does start to work. It WILL fail again. Make sure you make not of what CD's you have in there when they remove it. They could not get my CD's out and had to ship the entire cassette out to get the CD's out. Check for any scratches when you get them out. Those units are dung, so the service guy told me.

My Problems,

I had my 01 3 days and the SERVICE ENGINE SOON light came on. I took it in yesterday and as soon as I left the parking lot that fuggin light came back on. I hace to take it back tomorrow. Also the clip from the garage opener hold was missing, so they ordered that part. Last but not least I didn't get a warranty book. They are trying to sell me one...I haven't spoke to the guy who sold it to me yet (who happens to be my Dad's cousin, still a cars salesman though..), but I say if I drop 35 fuggin G's they should give me 10 free books!

My problems so far:

Slipping supercharger belt
Rattling brake pedal

I love the truck, but Ford service sucks. They wouldn't fix anything. I changed the belt myself. I am waiting for the brake pedal to rattle around some more, so I can sue Ford.

Grease your steering stops.

If it worked okay before then yeah, your speaker installation is causing something to bind.

1) CD Player has jammed several times, can't get cartridge to eject, usually after a few days it will start working again.

Home made CD's with labels will do that. If you're using them, stop. If you aren't tell the dealer to give you a new cartridge.

2) Both Fog Lights cracked (shattered really from the heat)

Dealer should warranty them.

3) Paint problems from the factory</font>
Dealer will fix those if you choose to let those clowns touch it.

CAPTAIN OBLIVOUS Boy 725 post and you don't know what is making the clunk sound when you turn the wheel to the stops. Don't you ever read anything here or do you just post. Brother, that one has been answered 1000 times.

It really doesn't sound like a clunk to me, and actually I think I've only read 1 thread about the clunk, actually it was lowering thread that mentioned Herbs washers. Figured when I got the clunk I'd go back and read. I see the time has come. (ps - hence my handle name)

4D THNDR - it's not the speaker install, checked everything out and couldn't find anything that would do that, and I found a second 01 owner that has the same problem in the same place. And I wasn't I complaining about the heat, just noting.

ATIDominator - if you are using homade cd's w/ labels on them, 4D THNDR is right, stop. Those labels never stay on good and can mess things up. Just get one of those cd label markers and right on it.

I greased the metal stops and tighned the lower control arm bolt and both clunks went away.

Yeah I have some burned CD's in there, but no labels on them. I just marked them with a permanent marker. Still can't get that damn cartridge out!

noelvm - thanks, still gotta read about it though.

ATIDominator - do what I did, rip out the entire audio system and build it from the ground up.
