Clay bar before Cherry Wet Wax?
I have been waxing with Zymol. Wasn't worth the effort at all. Just received my Cherry Wax from Coats. Should I clay bar before applying Cherry Wax? Will the shine be that much better if I clay bar versus just applying the new wax? What is this I have seen about guys using Dove to take off old wax. I thought you did not want to use detergents of any sort. Appreciate any first hand experience you detailers and car show winners have.

I clay my vehicles about twice a year or more. My primary reason for claying is to remove contaminants from the paint without an abrasive cleaner/compound. Claying will also remove bugs, pollen, and sap that may be embedded in the paint. However, it will not remove stains or damage left by the contaminants. Using a dishwashing detergent will remove the wax from your paint. The purpose for this is to start off with a "clean" surface. You shouldn't use Dove/Dawn/Joy after you have applied your Cherry Wax because it will get stripped off. If, however, if you are using a polymer-based polish such as Zaino, the dishwashing liquid will not harm the finish.

I would not recommend the Meguiar's clay. I have used it in the past; but I feel that it leaves too many clay streaks regardless of how much detailer I used. I would suggest either Clay Magic or Zaino's Z-18 clay bar. Neither of the these two will leave streaks nearly as bad as the Meguiar's.
Got my clay from the same place I got the Cherry wet wax. They had 2 'grits' of clay. You get the fine for dark colors, the heavier for lighter colors. Well worth the effort, just make sure you use plety of lube when claying. Check my sig for a clay'd and Cherry'd Screw.

Why did you stop using Zymol? I swear by that after everything that I have tried. I have a black 93 Cobra that always draws attention because people think the paint is wet. I also use Zymol on my red lightning, and I like how it makes the paint look deep and glossy. The trick that I have found with Zymol is this - Leave vehicle in the sun to warm up the paint. Bring it inside to wax it using an "X" pattern - up and down on the sides, and left to right on horizontal surfaces. Pull vehicle back out into the sun, and let sit for about 10 minutes. Buff off the wax using a soft towel in the same motion as it was applied. I believe that it is a very durable wax, and protects the paint.

Hey guys, I will be trying Zaino for my Cobra R, but, I am trying a product called Klasse on the Lightning. It's an acrylic polymer based polish that lasts up to 14 months. I leave my Lightning parked outside for most of the time and this stuff is REAL REAL good. Even with condensation at night, the water just beads up, no spots! Excellent dust repellent too! I use a coat of the polish and then finish with the sealant glaze. Smooth as glass.
I am curious to see how it compares to Zaino.
