Its Alive! Street side...
This is a completely new truck.
With the encouragement of Brian K, I broke down and got the chip. I dont have my slips here with me now, but I do have an okay memory.
We went to go see the Fast and the Furious, which was better than I expected, but I was looking forward to what was gonna happen afterwards. We saw the 7pm show, and the 5 after that were sold out. It was pretty much an import car show. I dont think Chevy was represented in the movie or the parking lot, aside from the 454SS that didnt want to play.
Well, I take a friend for a ride, and we come across the blue Vette that I raced a couple of weeks ago. We talk, and I tell him he wont be passing me until over 100. He asks if thats what I really thought, and I told him there was no way he was taking this truck again. He didnt want to play then, but when I picked up Brian, and ANOTHER passenger, we came across him again. I'd say there was a good 400 extra lbs in the cab, not to mention the sandbag in the bed. We try to line up at several lights, but much to his luck, we didnt catch a single one. So we went at it on the highway a little.
The first time around, he got the jump and kept walking away. Then we line up again, around 50 mph, and its just about the same time when we both gun it, and he is slowly walking away. Probably a solid length to 100. He was definatly humbled. It was a good 4 mile stoplight drive back to the strip, and it was he who was driving a tad quicker when the dont walk signs lit up. One light went yellow, and he just squeeked by.
Sorry, no vids, the camera is outta commission.
We get back to the spot, and we see a white NSX, then a red one. The red one didn't want to play, and we didnt play with the white one.
Cruising the strip, a loping mopar with roll cage, drag strip decals, skinnies out front, and big ones on the rear looks like he wants to play. This thing sounded sick. In the right lane, was a 5.0 with Nitrous, the car needs a good tune up, 120k miles. I was thinking how long can I keep up? Well, the lights about to change and the guys in the mopar are asking what I did to the truck. I point to the light that turns green a second later. Through 1st gear, he hung in there at my door, then it was like your typical dakota r/t. When it rains carlengths, it pours car lengths.
We lined up with yet another 70s style muscle, I have no idea which kind, but when he was playing with the silver SS, there was a lot of smoke coming out of its rear end. Impala comes to mind. Those two get to the light first, then I roll up, throw a loud rev. I catch eye contact with the driver, and he looks at me with the "what are you crazy, racing me with that ford truck" look. The light went green, and he spun himself out to a great view of my tailgate (I highly doubt all the traction in the world would have helped). The SS has pretty bald tires, so he's done racing from a stop for now.
That viper, too bad there was too much traffic. It was an older one, too.
I had fun Brian, it put a grin on my face.

But I did. That was him.
I told him flat out he was gonna lose. This, infront of a lady acquaintance (just a friend). You'd think that putting it bluntly like that infront of a lady on a Firday night, he'd be happy to beat me, but he just couldn't do it. Said somethin' about cops. Thats when I told him I'd be at the track Saturday. He paused, and said was was gonna go fishin' or something. Last time he said he didnt want to rag out his car.
I think we have similar problems, HANKFAN. Except I dont run for money.
I cannot wait until I find another one.

Well, let's see...
I had a Halibut burger for lunch at Artic Roadrunner, and then I just finished eating fresh red salmon, for dinner.
I am off this week, so I think I am gonna head north and kill me a King Salmon.
