Help for better traction!!!
I have tried the BFG and Nitto Drag radials along with the E.T Streets and nothing seems to be working,i have tried air pressure from 16 pounds to 22 pounds and does not make any difference and i have tried heating them up alot and just cleaning them off and same result no traction.Does caltracs work or what is everyone else using that is getting 1.70-1.80 60ft. times.Any info would be appreciated!!

High Roller give Mark at Lightninforce a buzz for a set of Cal Tracs. His Email is UNI4MONEY@aol.com. I have heard that this will help with traction problems.

Matt, I'll give you my personal and business thoughts on the Cal-tracs. From a personal standpoint, I didn't get into them for a long time. Then trouble with incosistant launching made me look for traction alternatives. I then contacted several current Cal-tracs owners privately, to get thier veiw on them. After hearing all good reviews, I got a set for my 99. I will admit that I did several other changes at the same time, and since my 60fts did improve, it's hard to say which part had the greatest effect on that. That's my personal view.
My business view is that you are better off having them than not. The WILL eliminate axle twist, which causes wheelspin and driveling issues like broken driveshafts. The adjustabiliy allows you to pre-load the rear suspension to how your truck needs to be dialed in. On the Gen1s, we used to use solid bars, made by Rancho, for the same thing, but they were just that, solid bars. They did not aid in tracion, they just stopped wheel hop and parts breakage. Several Gen2 owners like to use inexpensive clamps to hold the leaf springs from flexing, but I don't like that either. While it does work, it also stresses the heck out of the springs, because you are not holding the axle.
I sell Caltracs because they are a part that I believe in to do what it's supposed to do. I will not sell items that I wouldn't put on my own truck.
I also suggest taking off the front swaybar. That REALLY makes a difference, and I didn't see any difference in how the truck drove on the street with out it.
Hope this helps!!

Hey, i read about your traction problem and i got some advice that may help you.
Me and my bro usually go race his car at the track and he recently bought some ET streets. We went to the track and used em but they still weren't hookin up. We said, wait, it these big 10 second dragsters are using the same tires as us, and hooking up perfectly, then we're doin somethin wrong. We figured that we weren't heating em up enough, not doin a big enough burnout, and decided to do somethin about it. Well, he went out and bought a line lock made by hurst and it did the trick. Before we ran 13.04 w/o the line lock to heat up the tires, and with just heating the tires up enough we pulled 12.93. That may not seem very significant, but it was the difference between 13z and 12z. All of this just because the tires weren't hot enough. Just some advice that may help you.

Hey Matt.
Sorry to hear about your problem
That truck must be pulling hard off the line!
I have the 26x10.5 ET Streets now, and it takes lots of heat to get them to stick!
I've been able to pull 1.83 60ft times with just those tires and converter/shift kit.
HEAT'EM UP!!!
Jason
p.s. I know it's far for you but, when are you coming back to my neck of the woods?(US41)

Drop the front sway bar. Vary your launch technics. Try from an idle, then gradually increase the rpm with each launch. You should find a "sweet spot" in the rpm range that gets you going will little or no wheel spin. Stick with the ET streets or spend the big $ and buy some true slicks.

I already took off the front sway bar and had no improvement which surprised me,i take off from idle right now and it still spins alot even when i take off easy and nail it does it to.I heat my tires up as much as anyone i race with and it doesn't matter, this is why i am so frustrated.
Hey HIGHROLLER,
Good traction is partially a factor of the track your at and LAUNCH RPM. What rpm are you launching at and what are other L with the same rear gears as you have getting at the same track. You can't compare one track to another.
With my 355 gears I'm getting 60' of an average at 195 which isn't great but last friday nite I got 5 in a row. That's great for bracket racing to be consistant. I launch at about 1000 rpm and get no spin at a track not known for traction. I don't think most of these trucks will stick at launch rpm over 1200 except at very eaceptional tracks with ideal weather conditions which we don't have here at night with 90+% humidity.

noelvm,
I respect all your posts always informative!
I am racing at probably one of the best tracks in the midwest anyone who has been there would agree because of there better times from lower 60 ft's.Most L's that are on F1's usually run 1.92-99's with less power and last night all my runs were 2.01-2.18 60 ft's at 109 MPH.My last run i borrowed ib fast E.T streets at 18psi and a good burnout and gave me a 2.09 60ft. compared to his low 1.90's he was getting with similar mods on his 00.My 99 last year was pulling 1.87 60ft all day long at this track but did not have the power this truck is making down low!

Are you stripping your truck of excess weight? Sounds like a weight transfer problem. Perhaps the Bilstien shocks are too good for drag racing. Do any of the other trucks running the same day with better 60' times run Bilstiens? They may be preventing the front end from lifting and the rear from compressing. If you don't mind turning wrenches try a shock swap for the strip.
