Cool I see a storm brewing

I am leaning towards a L but I have a few questions. Any help is appreciated.
1. Will/would you buy another L?
2. Any regrets about buying the one you have now?
3. What could/should Ford do to improve the L?
4. Can a Superchip for another F150 be reprogrammed for the L?

Thanks for your input.

1. Yes I would definately buy another one, in fact I intend to if they improve/update it to my liking in 2003 like everyone is anticipating.

2. My only regret is that I feel guilty driving it around all the time while my Mustang sits at home feeling lonely. I have to make myself take turns driving vehicles some days so the stang won't be too pissed.

3. As far as improvements, the Stereo sucks crap! Ford needs to take care of this clunking control arm thing, they have had this TSB out for over a year and my 2001 model rolls off the truck with the same friggin' problem (which is really only an occasional annoyance) at a whopping 7.3miles! Oh and the intercooler thing, we'll see if that has truely been fixed or not soon enough I suppose. Oh and MORE POWER MORE TORQUE!!!

4. sorry, I don't know the answer to this one, I would think so, but I don't know for sure.

hope this helps, just my .02.

later,
chris

1. Without a doubt, one year out and It still brings a smile to my face everytime.

2. Only the payment (but I'd be making it on another vehicle anyways and wouldn't be smiling so much) NO

3. Fix the seat padding, upgrade the stereo, give me an '03 for being such a great guy.

4. Don't know the answer to that one but I would think so.

1. If I could afford to buy another L I would do it today. I bought mine only about 2 weeks ago and love it more than any other vehicle I have owned or driven.

2.No regrets except of course payments.

3.Lots of things like mentioned above and more power.

4. I believe so.

I love my silver baby, my only regret is that I have to wash it so much and I am paranoid something is going to happen to it like a door ding. I would buy one for the wife if money were no object.

I've owned my '99 since Aug. of '99. Just rolled 17k miles. I'm very pleased with the truck.

1) would definitely buy another one
2) Like Superfords said, my Mustangs do not get driven nearly enough. Literally 3.5k miles b/w two Mustangs since I bought the L.
3) everyone wants more power, so that's a no-brainer. However, they will have to make it hook up and hold it or it will be useless...in straight line AND around the twisties. So, if they give the L much more power then my hope is that they do not make it a straight-line only machine. The beauty of the thing is that it handles and stops incredibly well, even when comparing it to "sporty" cars (not just trucks). Also, while it can be driven hard, it can also be driven daily in a commute or just cruising around. My wife drives it every now and then and really likes it, and she is not one that goes crazy on the gas pedal.
4) Go to the chips forum on this website and look up Mike Troyer. He's a Superchips distributor and I'm sure he can give you the final answer.

cars owned. 66 coronet hemi. 68 gtx 440, 70 roadrunner 440 six pack, 58 vette, 64 vette coupe small block with air. 70 vette. 94 vette.a few other through the 80s and early nineties that arent worth mentioning, and a 99 lightning. now an 01 lightning. this is the best of the lot by a country mile. i would buy another lightning in a minute. these trucks are a pleasure to own, and totally fun to drive either easy or hard. in all cases they are really easy to live with. quality is excellent. ride is nice, especially with those bilstein shocks, and the performance is impressive. the most fun is the fact its a truck and that makes it very enjoyable to embarass most sports cars.

Thanks for the replies.
All seem positive even in light of the SC leaks and clunks I read about.

Any other words of wisdom?

SuckBangBlow,

I would definately buy another L! I agree with Spiro's reply, (bigger blower & 4-valve heads).

Do you happen to be an aircraft mechanic by chance? Turbine engines are often refered to as Suck-Squeeze-Bang-Blow.

Later,
Jake...

Hi Jake,
Not an aircraft mech. That turbine talk is funny though.
