99-00 intercooler leak was a minor recall....

i went to a mechanic today and we were talkin about my truck and he looked up reacalls on my truck....i thought there was just the cruise control. it turns out that if your 99-00 was made in the ontario (maple leaf on your inner door sticker) then ou could be eligable for the recall i will be calling this week to find out more. and let everyone know..if i can find a scanner i will scan the paper he printed out for me.

All 99-00s had the field service recall for the intercooler. It was a timed recall. I think it lasted 5 years. Ford will not cover it anymore, they can't even get the recall parts any longer.

I bought my 2000 L two years ago from the dealership and within 4 months my intercooler started to leak. check the vin # and my truck wasnt on the recall list. thank God i bought the 3 year extended warranty. all i had to pay was $50.00 and i got me a new intercooler and that was about a litte more than a year ago. no leaks so far. if you didnt get the extended warranty you are looking about $2300.00 just for the inercooler. good luck

2300 for an intercooler? someone lied to you. all the recall parts are a new intercooler (01-04) and an adaptor plate. they dont carry them on the shelf but all the dealers i call told me they could get it for me for 1500.mines fixed so i'm not worried about it. i'm still goin to call that number b/c the paper says nothing about a time limit on the recall. if it works and i can get a new one then good stuff and maybe it will help others...if not then oh well it was worth a shot.

$2300. may have been what they quoted him for the part and the install.

The limit for the recall was September 30, 2002 if my memory serves me right. I got two notices from Ford, so the owners would have to be idiots not to get it done. Some people don't give a hoot!

Thumbs down

3 posts and you already have an infomercial?

Trying to weasel yourself out of paying the vendor fee?

Is that you Bob?

Do you really think people are that stupid?

I know for a fact that Velocity has them all. I am not sure however if any of the vendors that I listed are able to offer the Pre-recall mod.

I will look into that a little more. I will also see if anyone took pictures of my intake during the process so that I can post them also.

well then that's good news, my '99 has a ported and polished loer intake and mid plate but the intercooler core only has a few miles on it and I was planning on getting a larger core form Rick...

guess I have to pump more work into my midplate to get it to fit 'eh?? here dremel dreml dremel
