What wax do you use?
Getting ready to wax my L for the first time. I have some 3M Imperial Hand Glaze to go on first to remove any swirls. I have been a diehard Mother's fan in the past and am planning on switching to a liquid wax for my L. What do some of you use? I am not ordering a GALLON of cherry wax and I think Zaino is a bit salty. Mequiar's? Mother's?

when Sprio switched to Zaino he gained a tenth. The wind just breezes right across his L because the surface is smooth as a baby's bottom.
Take care

I know that I have never heard any of you using this, but DUDE give this chit a try. "LIQUID GLASS" My dad uses it on his classics. I think it has one of the best shines. It is not cheap though, around $20 a pint, but that stuff works real good.

Do NOT use liquid glass! Liquid Glass is applied and then allowed to "bake" on in the sun. Sounds like it would be durable... and it is, far more durable than any other wax I ever used. BUT, it leaves a thick layer of protection and here is the problem that I found. It builds up very quickly and after a few applications and washes in between, it gets hazy. It is does not possess anywhere near the almost perfect optical quality of Zaino. I have seriously tried everything out there, except for this Wet Cherry everyone is talking about, and I have had the best results with Zaino. Hmmm Wet Cherry, sounds like a **** flick.

A **** flick that will shine the bejeezus out of a Lightning. Break down and order a (shriek!) gallon of Cherry wet wax and you will not be disappointed. The best. Hands down. go to "www.coastproducts.com" Rick will hook you up. The prices we pay for stuff are outrageous anyway, at least cherry wet wax works. Just my 2 cents...
I've always used KIT Pure Carnuba Wax on my Cobra and now my L. It has always worked great for me and I'll proably never even try anything else. You can get it in a liquid or a paste. Just my $.02

I have a box of Zaino stuff at home that I really want to put on the L, but I just haven't had time. However, I bought a gallon of Cherry Wax the other day because everyone was rubbing off to it and I have to say I'm impressed. I didn't use it on the L (still in the shop), but I used it on my 91 Bronco. Man, it shined that thing up like new! The front quarter panel is original paint (everything else has been repainted) and it tends to be grey-ish, no matter what wax combo I use. The only was I was able to get rid of it was to do a 3 step procedure of cleaner wax, Zymol, and a protective coat. However, Cherry knocked out the grey with ease. The whole truck looks great and it took out a lot of the swirls. It also went on so easy. I set aside about 3 hours to wax the truck, but I wound up only needing 1 to do the WHOLE thing (climbing up and down stepladders and all)!
I have never NOT had to buff the ***** out of any of my waxes. This stuff came off SO easy! I know a gallon sounds like a lot, but it will last you for a while.
My only concern is that it doesn't feel very "thick." It just doesn't seem like the protection is there. I dunno....maybe it's just because the paint on the Bronco was in such bad shape....maybe not. I'll find out how much wax is left in a few days and let you know.

Zaino is good but the wet cherry wax is better and easier to use. Also for the cost per gallon it is the best value for the money too. But no matter what wax you use they are only as good as the prep of the paint. clean with clay then treat the paint with glaze or polish to restore oils before waxing for the ultimate show car shine. later 95rcobra.
ZAINO! I've been using it for 4 years now, and nothing compares. I've tried Mother's, Meguiars, Auto Polish, Zymol, Turtle Wax, etc. How can anything be easier to apply than Zaino? It's not white and pasty, you don't swirl it on, etc. The stuff is the MOST durable wax I've ever seen or used.
As for carnauba wax, it's not good. If you use it enough, it will actually develop a yellow haze on your paint. That's not only from my experience, but that's been verified by more than one paint shop. Just some food for thought.

Zaino is the lick. No white residue in the cracks and stuff. Very clear and little effort.
