Question Bedrug vs. Spray-ins

I just picked up a new 2001 last Friday and want to do something with the bed. It looks like most of you guys/gals have Bedrugs with a few people opting to go the spray-in route.

To the Bedrug folks: Does the backing of the Bedrug wear the paint off the bed floor or walls? Is the Bedrug water/stain repellent as they claim on their website? Will it stand up to the 130 lb. alarm system (brand name Rottweiler) that I often carry in the back of the truck? I like the looks of the Bedrug but if it wears the paint off the bed floor or becomes a big smelly, moldy mess during monsoon season here I may opt for the spray-in.

To the folks with the spray-ins: I am considering Line-X and Rhino. Has anyone had experiences (good or bad) with either of these liners? A magazine did a blurb on spray-in liners a few months ago but I cannot find it. They rated 6-8 of the different liners but I don't remember who came out on top (my local Ford dealer uses Line-X but that may or may not be such a glowing recommendation).

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Is there any question?....Don't you want some cushy carpet for the "alarm"...how do you think the pooch would answer that question?

I have a Bed Rug with no evidence of paint damage. If I didn't have a Bed cover though then I would consider a spray on.

I tossed and turned over this for quite a while. Here's what I came up with:

Bedrug: If it sucks/scratches/messes up your truck, simply rip it out and spray in a liner. Since the liners cover any damage, you're fine.

Spray in: Permanant mod to truck, if it peels/ scratches, you HAVE to fix it.

I picked the bed rug, and I have to say it's great. I haul around engines and SCUBA equipement constantly and the rug is going great...

I had a spray-on bedliner in my 2000 F150 and am considering bedrug for my new 2001L.
Perma-Tech spray-on was very good, don't get me wrong, but for the price ($400+ vs. $300) 4t34t93tyt 8y you cannot touch bedrug...

Bedrug all the way.

It's held on by velcro straps. And like it was said, if does damage your paint the get a spary in liner and used both.

But the bedrug is comfortable to nap and do other things in, yet can haul junk w/ no problems. I put a tonneau on mine just to keep it from getting wet.

'01 Silver owner here w/ BedRug on the way from http://www.tntserve.com/truck_bed_li...ce_edwards.htm for $288 ($26 in shipping for a total of $314 to my door). Best price possible. BTW, the owner of TNT will be out till the 17th I believe. Try and wait that long, he's a good guy and deserves the business.

Can't beat it! I mulled over which I want. The spray in just is a crazy choice for our trucks. Like they say, if you get it scratched in any way then get a spray in, but BedRug DOES offer a LIFETIME GUARANTEE for satisfaction.

I had Rino in my '99 and now went with the Bedrug on the 2001. The Rino is better if you have no tonneau cover or haul heavy, abrasive stuff. I use mine more like a big trunk, although I do put my bicycle and my autoX tires in on weekends...

I had a bed rug in my last two trucks and the first thing I did when I got home from buying my L last saturday was get on here and order one for my L.

They are the best if you ask me and I haul all kinds of things including 3 dogs. And my dogs appreciate it very much. I had my last bedrug for about 2-3 months before my cap got put on and it did not move. It looked good and held stuff in place very nice.

I plan to leave my L's bed open and we will see how it does. I think it will be fine.

I only like the sprayed in liners for work trucks. My L is not a work truck and therefore gets the bedrug.

On a side note I traded in my last two pickups and because of the bedrug got a little more for trade and I got lots of compliments on my truck with the bedrug. It is classy all the way.

So if you haven't figured it out by now I would suggest the bedrug.

I have trouble seeing a bedrug w/o a cover. If you are going to use your truck as a truck, I would get the spray-in. And if you ever decide to get a cover, you can put a bedrug over the spray-in.

Cool

My dogs are spayed and neutered; I don't think having sex in the bed is of any concern to them.

Struck in AZ

Welcome to the ranks. I have a BedRug in my '00, and I wont hesitate to jump in the back in the summertime bare-legged or bare-footed. I'm not too sure a spray-in will allow you or your animals to do the same.

Bedrug all the way. I have a 01 Lightning and put the bedrug in two weeks before my cap came in. When it got wet, it dried very quickly. The rug is Marine grade carpet. My dogs love the rug.
I would suggest that you put on a pair of shorts and go kneel in a truck with a spray-in liner. Not very comfortable. Do you ever have to crawl around in the bed of your truck?
I am glad I went with the Bedrug.
