g-tech perfrmance gauge
has anyone ever heard of this. its supposed to give you 1/4 and 0-60 times but how accurate could it be it just plugs into the cigarette lighter it also said it gives a horse power rating im kindof skeptical but it says it works. there was some deal at my work that offered it if u bought a set of high performance bfg tires. just curious let me know
Oh Boy... Just do a search and you will find a ton of "discussions" on the matter...

My testing with the g-tech at the track several times with about 6 passes with it and everytime was always within 1 tenth of my track E.T!!The problem is that the track conditions is not identical to where most of us g-tech for fun at home therefore we might be seeing a little faster or slower times depending on the road were testing on.Also there has been some posts that were made about times that were not credible that board members along with myself gave a bad rap on the g-tech!But besides that i find it as a valuable tool for me to test my new mods at home when i am not at the track!

I have heard of people bashing these and I don't know. If it works it would be a cool gadget to add to the collection.
I do not live anywhere close to a track, so I might be looking at one just for the fun of it and would not go around quoting the numbers. It would probably be good to see how a mod changes things.

I have one that I use but I mount it in the same place every time (the same road) and I run it in the same 3 mile stretch everytime. And my times are pretty acurate from run to run. What is most crucial is the road must be level.I run my truck in both directions and take the average.Works for me

It is a very cool device. It is not a toy. Of course you cannot expect the accuracy of electronic timing, but if you follow the instructions carefully, and calibrate it properly you will be surprised how accurate it is. If you use it on the same stretch of road under similar conditions it will give you a good idea of whether your mods result in an improvement or not. Using it on a grade, or not leveling the unit properly, will throw the readings off.
