Post NOS???

I have a 2000 HD, I was wondering if you would recomend getting NOS in it. I've been investigating it lately and would like some input on it. I'm worried about damaging the engine. I'm planning on selling it after 2 years, so as long as it will make it that long. Sounds good to me. Any input that you have wouldf be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.

You want to put NOS on a Harley?? I wouldn't do it unless you want to race the bike and I really wouldn't do it if you are gonna sell it in two years. I don't really know about the engine components on a Harley, but I know a larger engine EX:2000 Lightning, you need to have the bottom end stong enough to handle the detonation.

I think he means the HD truck. Remember? 20" wheels, 5.4 liter V8.

That would mean he has the exact same bottom end as our L's, only the pistons are cast not forged.

I would imagine anyone from CALGAY will have a STONG bottom end.

Ya I do mean the truck.

Black Light- Is there any good shows coming to Vancover that would be worth the drive to come down to. I wouldn't mind seeing how my truck compares to others.

The pistons weren't the only difference. Crank is the main thing amongst others.

Ya I have been looking into Super Charging. For a good kit it will set me back about $7500 cdn. Don't kow if i want to spend that. Could judt buy a lightning engine for that price. If there is a cheap s/c kit thats reliable, maybe.

I still need more information on NOS. Would you do it if it was your truck?

The crank is exactly the same as all the other 5.4 L engines.

http://www.motortrend.com/june99/ford/ford_svt_f.html :

"One of the more impressive aspects of this engine is how few modifications were made to handle the extra 100 horses.) The only internal changes were unique forged pistons and stronger wrist pins. The piston change drops the compression ratio from 9.5 to 8.4. Virtually everything else is stock, including rods, crank, block, and front cover. Even the stock cast-iron exhaust manifolds were used."

Your crazy if you want to do that.

is the 2002 harly truck supposed to have the Lightning drivetrain in it. thats what I would do instead of spending 7500 on a blower kit.

And NOS is only worth it if your going to race it all the time. You want constant power thats there all the time, get the blower.

Or you could just buy a lightning motor and tranny and install that in the HD.
