KGM,
Where do you have your 4 inch duct tube going from the bottom of your box? Do you have any more pictures for the rest of the system?

KGM,
Thanks for the pictures!! Besides making more blower noise do you feel by putting the 4 inch hole that you cut out,did you notice any better E.T by doing this.I have the stock airbox with K/N filter now and am thinking strongly about doing your setup.Any info would be appreciated!

I had two problems trying to use a 4" tube. With a 3" tube, you can barly get thru the frame and fender liner. I had to trim a fair amount of liner away to get the tube and liner to clear the tire at full lock going in reverse. The other problem is hitting water at speed would do bad thing to a motor. I droped all the valve seats in a Turbo Saab when I hit a water puddle wile on full boost on day. It was not a goog day Now I route the tube to in front of the intercooler. The tube fits right in. Rtkilla has a cool setup but dealing with mud and gravel would have to be a issue. A little creative work whith some sheet metal may help.

Hope this helps

Andy

Nice to have a sheet metal shop to work at after hours.

Cheap airraid
The IAT sits in the bottom corner below the filter.

What tool did you find to cut thru the fender and did you have to remove the fender to get to the second layer of metal? I was going to use a nibbler to get to the engine compartment layer. To look good is a challangeand you have only one shot at it. The stock air box would make the job easier than all the sheet metal work. Please take a photo of inside the wheel well. Nice job

I just pulled the inner fender liner off and used a pair of snips (left and right handed) I cut the hole alot larger than the opening in the engine compartment (there are two openings). It's a pretty easy to cut with snips (if you've got a good grip ) once the plastic liner is off. You might be able to get a pneumatic nibbler in there to make nice perfect cuts.

BTW, thanks for the compliment.

Cool

LOL! I made a stainless steel strut tower brace for my '99 Cobra and everyone wanted me to make one for them after seeing it (only cost me $2.98 to make)!

I appreciate the gesture but mine was a "one-off" since I had the filter from my UPR setup. I'm not sure how/where I could get a filter like mine that has the bolts in the ring that could be monuted to the flange like mine, I've never seen another one like it though I guess one could be ordered from UPR for ~$50-60. When it's all said and done, it would be just as cheap to order an airraid when you figure material cost, shipping, etc. Got lucky I guess that something good to work with from the start that was free.

Can anyone tell me the part # of the K&N Drop in filter for the stock airbox?
Mine is a '99 if that makes any difference.

Thanks!
