Post Piston SLAP!!!

Well I think I'm starting to notice some minor piston slap on my truck. I'm not to sure what it sounds like but the noise I'm hearing is almost like a little hammer hit a solid chunk on metal, which to me sounds like the piston slap to me.

So now that I'm pissed about that, Who know where I can pick up a 2001 motor, for real cheap. I want to get it now so I can get some new piston thrown in there. I've seen them for $4500, but I thought they had them cheaper before. any Ideas guys.

Cool

Joe,

I believe even the cheapest prices you've seen have gone up by now. So what you've seen sounds about right.

FWIW, I'm not even fooling with the dealer on this one, or the I/C, unless a bulletproof I/C becomes available. Screw the warranty and the monkeys tearing up things that aren't broken. I can fix this chit myself. Welded I/C joint and custom pistons - enough said. Sad, but that's the way it is. My truck, besides the major things, is flawless, tight and beautiful.

Yep RT KarKraft jacked their prices a grand on the 01 units. $4500 now. Still a good price for a complete unit. Who is doing aftermarket pistons for these? Wiesco?

Silver-Bolt:

Sean Hyland Motorsport does custom pistons in any compression ratio you want for $105 each. Kind of salty price. But thats what I'm going with.

9.5 to 1's...If the supercharger wont support more power, add more compression!

Funny thing is..I did not experience the "slap" until 19K, then at 33K it went away...

Spiro I just noticed it this last week and I have 33k on my truck. whats with that.

I was going to have S&S performance stroke out the motor a bit, and also make the custom piston's. He did clair stewarts car, and he's building my buddy eddie's egine. His shop is nice as hell though. My buddy eddies going to port and polish everything for me since I got it all apart anyway. He's trying to talk me into putting a novi on here, but I'm not ready for that yet. I need to get something like a mustang for that chit!

I'm thinking that in the winter time I should have about two months to three months to get it all done. It shouldn't be a problem. I'm going to have everything done up then. get some stuff chromed and powder coated. I want to remove the EGR outlet on the blower plenum. I got allot of idea's for her. I want to have TRZ make my lower control arms too! I need to give tommy Z atleast two months to finish that one.

Chit he know's it me now just by the sound of my voice.
