Post 01 Vette & My 01 L

Well unfortunately I had to witness the power to weight ratio myself. Came up on a brand new Vette tonight on the expressway. It had the license applied for sticker in the window, so it was brand new. At eighty on the expressway he saw me coming and didnt want me to pass him. So he sped up to eighty five. I sped up to eighty five also and got to about his passengers door with the front of my truck, and he then decided to kick it. At about the same time my right leg was totaly stretched out. At one ten he had a car on me. We both had to back down because of traffic.
Its not that I didnt believe you guys its just that I had to see for myself I guess.I hope the next one is at a light.
I can take them from a dead stop right, right?????

A dead stop race is your best shot. The L can be launched very quickly and you do not have to over come the huge wind resistance present at speed over 80 mph. Good luck.

get the chip and the air with the lower pulleys. Then have fun with him. I was running one with my jetski on the other day. He could not go anywhere ,LOL. I am sure he will never tell this story to anyone.

He only had one car on you and he was at the "sweet spot" of his performance (80-110mph) I wouldn't be ashamed of that one bit. Most cars would be several car lengths back.

First off, you need to kick that guy in the ba!!s for not breaking the car in before doing a WOT run..... Your best bet would be to catch him from a stop or at low speeds. With a Chip n Filter, you'll do even better at low speeds and should hold even til around 100 or so, due to aerodynamics. Right Keith......

Or you could just add the "Big Blue Bottle" and wave at him through the rear sliding window as you blow pass him!

Its not the power to weight ratio that's critical in this kind of encounter, its the power to drag ratio. You are driving a vehicle with the aerodynamic drag of a barn door, so when you tackle a slippery bolide like a 'vette at 80mph you are in his bailiwick. You have an '01, right? From a dead stop, stock to stock, if he is a good driver he should still beat you, but once you add the chip 'n filter you should nail him. Why stop at the chip 'n filter, though, too much horsepower is never enough.

Yeah you know I wasnt really upset. After all were talking about Vettes here. Just wanted to see if they were all of what there supposed to be at those speeds.
I would have really been P.Oed if it was a ricer that was pulling me by a car length. Although i'm sure thats happened also.
I'm going to put a few more miles on her (only at 1600) and start looking at a chip at least.
