Post 01 lower control arm not sloted!!

I bought a set of Herbs washers and was going to install them on my 01 born 04-01. The lower control arm is not sloted. Has anyone else experienced this? The ROUSH suspension works very well! It lowered mine about 2 in the front and 1.5 in the rear.

I'm doing it the easy way. I'm going to take my 01 in to the dealer to check/set the alignment and right away drive it home. When I get home I'm going to fire up the mig welder and tack weld the washer to the lower control arm on both sides. It's a free fix and it'll never shift again. If I ever need to move it all I need to do is use my small pnuematic grinder and get rid of the tack weld. After welding I'll wire brush both sides and hit them with some spray undercoat to eliminate the possibility of rust..

I have yet to crawl under mine to see. Are you able to tell by just looking at it?

The '01 black I test drove before I bought my new silver was slotted. This was two different dealers, though, meaning they will prob. be two different build dates.

I'll go out and check in a few for my build date and my control arm.

brb in a bit.

Undy,

I tack welded too 9,000 miles ago and all is fine. Just a word of advice - make sure the bolt is centered and then weld before the alignment. Otherwise, it could shift on you before you get the chance to weld it, thereby screwing your alignment up. But, not a big deal, just re-align and all is OK.

Mine was born 4-01 as well. I can't see where the slot would be. It's too low so I cannot tell.

There is one date on a sticker on the motor near the stering column. Also look on the bottom of the window sticker (this one does not have slashes and dashes so you have to look. also call svt a with the s# and they will sent you a certificate of ownership with the build date. All thes dates will be within a few days. How knows why?

if Busa has a Roush suspension on his lightning, then he may not have a slotted control arm.. why?
a Roush lowered suspension kit may replace the factory control arms, springs, leaf springs, swaybars, and shocks. (not too sure on what all it replaces)

Good thinking, but incorrect. The slots are NOT in the control arms. The slots are in the control arm attachment brackets that are a part of the actual frame.

So even if you do replace the factory control arms, springs, leaf springs, swaybars, and shocks, the slots would still be there.

The Roush kit only replaces the springs and shocks front and rear not the control arms. No slots in the frame at all took the bolt all the way out while installig the springs!

Red Racer,

You beat me to it. You are absolutely right. New control arms won't change a thing.
