Question Chip reburn mandatory when installing larger crank/blower pulley?

To the tuners out there...

If I'm running a basic chip that I have no problems with currently, will I need to have it reburned if I increase boost by installing a lower crank/blower pulley?

Seems like there are a lot of people running these pulleys now and have had good results.

I'm down here in the TX heat and do not want to cause a detonation problem.

I know the answer is probably going to be..."it depends on the chip". All I can say is that I have a 93 octane, single program, street chip. No race programming has been done.

Hi Wes! I asked Sal this same question a few weeks ago. He said with my current PSP chip (that shifts just above the stock setting) it would NOT need a re-burn. I think I have the latest PSP burn...about four months old. With out the pulley I will get detonation only when the air is very dry (that won't happen around here again until January) and the pressure is also high. With the 95 temps and high humidity I get no pinging at all. I don't know how the pulley will affect it.

I've got a two position superchip I got from 1BADTRK. I just put on Sals lower pulley. My chip shifts at 5500. Runs great with no reburn and has no ping. I'll try the strip program Friday nite, but I always add 104 when I go to the track.

No re-burn here. Pulley has been on for about 3000-4000 miles. No problems. Ran in 100+ degree weather not long ago with no problems.

It would probably be wise to ask the chip tuner which program you have and get their advice..IMO YES you do need a re-burn because it will lean you down therefor be SAFE and ask your tuner!....JL
