Actually I don't think that is too far off. From what I'm reading at various message boards Ford got it right this time with the 01 Cobra. I've seen a magazine time of 13.5@105, a guy over at the Corral ran 13.21@105, and there was another guy who ran 13.8@104 who didn't know how to drive. I also read a story of a 01 beating a 99 LS1 Camaro from a roll in 3rd gear, when has a stock Mustang ever been able to pull on a LS1 in their mighty 3rd gear? The 13.21 would probably be around 4.8 0-60. I really don't think Lightning owners need to be on the defense about the Cobra being faster, its a sports coupe and was always supposed to be faster, it just took them a couple of tryes to get it right.

Its too early to say for sure because enough 01's haven't been to the track yet, but it appears that they are competitive with the LS1.

Personally i'm glad the 01 Cobras are running
those times.I'm a die hard Ford fan and the Corba (to me)is our meat & potatoes hot rod.
The reason for the post was 4.8 secs just seems to quick,wanted to see what the pros think.

C&D also showed 0-100 in 12 flat - just got it in the mail yesterday. i used to have a 6speed LS1 SS Camaro, and that's right there with it. also, they dyno'd two new 01 cobra's, and BOTH produced the same rear wheel horsepower, 272, which they were surprised was so consistent. they used a 15% driveline loss (272/.85=320) and said the horsepower numbers were right on.

not much of an article, but they liked the car.

Let's remember 272 rwhp is NOT the 300+ rwhp as the LS1's are producing.

0-60 in 4.8 seconds is quicker than some Vettes. I'm sorry, but when this car goes that fast w/ only 272 rwhp something is wrong.

The Cobra boy's over at BON are saying 0-60 in 4.8 secs.There is C&D mag print out to.
That seems a tad to fast to me.
