Post Turbocharge/Supercharge

Just thinking, in theory couldn't you Turbocharge our trucks? Superchargers run off intake, turbo off exhaust... Wouldn't it work?

Superchargers are crank driven with a belt and turbos are exhaust driven. Nearly any engine can supercharged or turbocharged. Unless you are a master fabricator you have to have a kit for it. Not aware of any 5.4L turbo kits.

Man, I'd think you'd have to weld your heads on to keep the boost from popping them off But yes it is possible....driveable?, ah heck I'll do anything once

This has been done for at least the rs200 years.

Didn't that little 1.8l make like 800hp?

http://www.turbocharger.co.uk/rs-200.html

this flavor came in at 600hp

First I'll admit that I don't know all the in's and out's of how car/truck motors work (i'm more of a two-stroke kind of guy), but don't we already have a "problem" with our intake temp (i.e. the reason for the intercooler)? Wouldn't adding a turbo on top of all this make the air charge temp hot enough to turn our blocks into "liquid hot magma"? I don't know. But I guess "Where there's a will (and a BABolt)- there's a way". later...

Lightning Boy.
Yes we are. I am building a 2.7l four that runs both a turbo and a supercharger and both are intercooled.

Cool

The real problems will come from the heat and melting the pistons. Our pistons are stock that have been fly-cut to lower the compression. The tops are way too thin. My buddy at Ford R&D clued me in. A big / low boost turbo that would feed about 2 lbs to the blower would be cool. The MAF would need to be b4 the turbo.

Just thinking

Andy

I believe if your gonna do a turbo do it right. 8 cyl = 4 cyl a side = 2 turbos.

You now the theory, symetrical things are more pleasing to the eye, you know like 2 pipes out the rear for exhaust, twin turbos, etc.
