I'd say Clarion. Last I knew, Alpine was being made in Mexico. No lie...

I have always had GREAT luck with Alpine, and have obly 1 Clarion and it was a piece of crap. Would not play BRAND NEW CD's about 50% of the time.

Alpine Alpine Alpine.

Ive been workin in the car audio business for about 11 years. the return rate on clarion far surpasses the alpine.

But the quality of the alpine Far surpasses the Clarion.

I took 2 clarions outta the box The first one the rem out was shot. The 2nd had a bad pre out. so i tried put my alipine back in. Had the same head unit for the past 4 years and not a problem.

What kinda head unit u looking for?
Get one with a good output voltage if your using amps, also if your gonna run a system make sure it has a Sub Output.

I was gonna go with the new kenwood tv/dvd But the return rate on those has been outstanding, So ill stick with my alpine.

And number 2 id go with is pioneer.

There's a reason you can't buy Alpine from www.crutchfield.com!!!! If you can buy it from Cruntchfield, it's not a high end product!

Alpine is far better than Clarion and is rock solid. I've owned both and love Alpine. I've actually never had any problems with Clarion, but i general, the features, sound quality, and overall design is superior with Alpine.

Alpine is definately considered a higher quality brand then Clarion.

I've seen(and played with) the top notch radios from both sides, and the Alpines are a step up.

I'd imagine either will work just fine for you, but short of the "autopc" you'll pay more for Alpine gear.

Thumbs up

While I am no full-time stereo installer, I have installed quite a few units in the last few years...

If you want quality and clarity....ALPINE...

Actually, I have done 5 Alpines in my personal vehicles over the past few years. Never a functional problem...Only had some lights blow out on me. You can replace those yourself...(Pacific Coast Parts)

My preference is Alpine head units, changes and amps.....MB Quart Speakers...Bazooka subs....

You will NOT go wrong with the Alpine

I would recommend the Alpine over Clarion also, and would recommend the higher end Pioneer Premier over Alpine.

Alpine & Clarion are BOTH great!

The reason you can buy Alpine from just about anyone is because they do not have certain dealer restrictions like Clarion does. Clarion cuts you a better wholesale cost the more you sell, and Alpine sells the same to all it's dealers (which is the fair way).

Both rock and you will not go wrong w/ either, especially on the new models in the last couple of years. They are about the only 2 cd players that do not skip and will play 99% of all cd's scratched to hell and back.

Stay away from Pioneer, Sony, etc. J U N K

Last I heard , Alpine stuff was being manufactured in Mexico, taking advantage of the NAFTA agreement. Same as Fosgate. Anyone have any evidence to refute or support this?

Clonetek:

Nice setup! Where did you put your 6 CD changer? Or did you just go with the single CD head unit?

I just put in Pioneer Premier speakers and considering Premier series head units. The speakers and Premier amp sound great.....
