Post exhaust mod

I'm going to do the exhaust change next week. I have a 12468 Magnaflow due in but before I have the shop install it I wanted some opinions on straight pipes, as I could go that route also. would the straights be to loud in the cab at 70 mph. as I drive the interstates alot? Should I have new tail pipes bent or should I convert the old ones? This is on my 01 Lightning.--Thanks for any info that helps.----Jim

I've noticed with my straight pipes that the noise in the cabin isn't really "noticeable" until 2k RPMs. Not really a specific speed. BUt around 2k is when you hear it the most in the cabin. Other than that, you can have a nice conversation with a friend or a pretty girl without yelling. And for the rest, no you don't need new tail pipes bent. All they need to do is cut the muffler off, bend to pipes to fit and replace, here is a picture of mine, on my Black 2001 L.

And a picture of Ciione's Magnaflow (done by the same muffler guy)

Does your '01 have any mufflers or cat's? Straight pipes on the street?

I just had the Magnaflow 14468 installed last week and it sounds awesome. Deeper/Louder than stock, but not too much.......just right.

Don,

You got your '01 into the low 13's with a filter and muffler only?

Hey Jim sorry it took so long to get back to you, as I was in New Orleans for 4 days.

Guys,

Great pictures. I am running a Dynomax superturbo myself. Anyone have any exhaust components off of their lightning that they would like to get rid of? I need the tips and hangars and could use the cat pipes as well. Has anyone replaced their manifolds with headers?

Thanks.

Phil
