The factory speaker is a 6x8. Thought I'd let you know.
Anything you put in will be better than what's in there.

Infinity Kappa's sound excellent. Look on line and you should be able to get the 6x9 3-ways for around $150.

I have done the same thing...a pair of just plain 6x9 boxes ($35 at anystore) and I put a nice pair of Polk DX9's in them. I got those for $100 from a buddy. Check out ebay. You might wanta go to www.crutchfield.com , I don't buy there but you can compare brands and prices close to store prices.

I installed four Pioneer TS-A6865 speakers. About $150.00 at circuit city. Great sound.
I've heard others and I think these were the best for the money.

Let me know if you are interested in Kappa's. I have a set of 6x9's from my van that I can't use in the truck I'd be willing to part with.

Mrm, they may be reference 5xx's, I'll have to check.

I put some Cervin Vega ss 2963 5x7's in all four corners a couple of months ago and like them a lot. Direct drop-ins and the vendor gave me the harnesses so I didn't have to cut anything.

Now to swap the head unit with the Sony 4180 I have laying around the garage. Damn, ran out of weekend..

I'd suggest a nice pair of 5x7/6x8 to replace those factory ones, that difference alone may be enough.

One thing, if your gonna do 6x9's I wouldn't go with ones that have great highs. The seats will block out some of the highs, and you won't notice them that much, making it somewhat of a waste (IMO). You will get a better sound stage if you let your front speakers produce good mids and highs, and let you rears take care of the the midbass and lower.

I replaced all 4 of my speakers with JL Audio 5x7 coax's. You should look at these too, the sound is much better than the stock speakers.
