You might want to have your speedo recalibrated. 160 is about right for a stock geared Sps (actually 167). Maybe your speedo's off due to a gear change or sprocket change.

 

That im not sure about. I know alot of bikes spedometors are off and mine could be to. But I have gone top end with R1's and ZX9's and all the rest and none honestly can tuch the SPS. My friends ZX12 was maybe abit more on the top but just abit. You may be thinking of the S.

The Highway Patrol calls me and I go and Tow & Impound vehicles for them. I then sometimes Actually collect money IF/When someone picks up their vehicle. End of Story.

Highway patrol (DPS K-9 Unit) pulled me over a few months ago for no front plate. He made a U-turn on a major (known to be VERY dangerous) highway between where I live and where I go to school. A few weeks later, he tried the same manuver in the same spot and was t-boned by an 18 wheeler. Luckily, neither he (nor his dog) were hurt, but the TX-DOT put up a concrete median a few weeks afterwards. THAT'LL LEARN 'EM!

I got pulled over by the Highway Patrol for not wearing my seat belt when i was on my way home from work. This officer made a u turn in the middle of a major intersection at rush hour just to give me a ticket.
Must have been a slow day?.

 

I was on my way to Cape Cod one day with my bud, He was on his ZX9 and I was on my Ducati sps (996 race bike). As usual we would take turns doing Sprints, One guy opens it up and other follows taking turns leading. 180 or so back to cruise and back to 180. (makes trip short)It was my turn to lead I found a opening on highway went around a car and went into hyper speed.(you think a L accelrates).120 goes by like most cars pass 50. 150,160,170 and I let off throttle and regain my sense's. I keep my straight line waiting for my buddy to do a fly by(a thing we do to make eachother **** are pants blowing by at 160 or so 12 inches apart) but nothing.Is he down im ****ting myself where is he? Finaly the reason pulled behind me, State Police! Im going 50 now waiting for pal and cop is behind me to late to run. Little did I know as i hit the throttle the cop was pulling out behind us my buddy saw him at the last second, I didnt! Cop comes over young guy 29 or so says going a little fast ehh..I said ya abit he said how fast I said 90 just to say somthing(thinking i was about ot be cuffed and stuffed).He starts laughing ya 90....He said ill bet about 160, I said naaaaa... He than asked how fast bike goes I said 190 he said how fast have you gone on it b4 i said 190..I stand with a grin in full race leathers. He looks at me for about a minute in silence and says you are out of your mind! Slow down around here man! And let me go! (I also have a no tckets wich helps)

Had my 99 for year and half, got pulled over one time, 93/55. A very cool county sheriff who was impressed with my PBA "family card". Had the 01 for 3 months and have been pulled 3 times, all speeding 90/65, 50/35, and the last one 58/25, NO tickets. But I must learn to slow down.

Quick one.Last week a cop was in a chase with a bad guy and with no weapon on him the guy ran after bailing his car with no bodily injury. The cop shot him!! A HOLE!!!

 

I was friends with and dated a Michigan State Police detective's daughter in the early 70s. He ran a background check on all of her suitors.

I passed, but a few years later found I had my very own State Police/FBI "Red Squad" file for my subversive political leanings.

Entered Highway 75 enroute to Tampa from my house. I was an Eastern pilot based out of Tampa. My ride at the time was an 85 Stang. I accelerated hard on to the highway, and went by one generic looking car glancing at the driver as I went by. I got up to about 120 and then eased off. I glance up in my rear view mirror and the aforementioned generic car is now coming up fast with flashing blue lights in the grill area. I pull over immediately, and he goes flying by at a great rate of speed. I am stopped by now, and he is making a U-turn, fishtailing, coming up the center medium - looked like a scene from Smokey and the Bandit. I am standing outside of my car wearing my pilot's uniform. He comes whipping up in back of me, jumps out, opens his door, and rests a 45 on the door pointing it at me. The quick rest of the story is that I immediately got in the fact that I was an ex-cop. He indicated that I was doing 115. He seemed totally pissed at me, never changed that attitude, but cut me loose with no ticket. Amazing - I thought I was going to jail. I believe he was so excited, because I think he thought that I was running from him, when I looked over at him.

Coming home from a party riding my buddies zx7 I think and I was doing about 100 on the toll way in H-town and a constable pulled up behind me and shot the $&it with me about the bike, I couldnt believe it, but then again in H-town they have bigger things to worry about, murders rapists and drug dealers. I think Duck01 would agree with me that the cops in cs need more to do with themselves.

 

No kidding about that. With no real crime to fight, all their fun comes from harassing the students.

 

I have a good friend who is a state trooper here in washington.

You should here some of his stories. I tell him all the time, "there's no way in hell I could do your job"
