Pod coming - what gauges?
I've got a Lo-Tek double-gauge pod coming in the mail. What gauges should I be putting in it - I know I want a trans-temp gauge. What else, maybe an accurate boost gauge? This is a non-N2O application...

No boost guage. After what happen to me it would be an air fuel ratio guage. What can you do to get more boost if you are running wot anyway? But if you are lean then you can back out of it and save your motor!Alot of the guages like the boost guage tell me nothing that I ALREADY know, when the needle moves I know I have boost. But what about being LEAN?
I'm not opposed to a boost gauge - I kind of wanted the second gauge to be one that moves alot. I really wanted the trans.-temp and I think the double pod is cool, so the second gauge is just gratuitous unless there's another that's necessary...
I agree with Ruslow, the A/F is the most important gauge on this truck. buy it here http://www.gadgetseller.com/gauges/ or send yours to them for calibration. they come back "very accurate"
I personally would run a fuel pressure guage. This to me (along with a properly calibrated A/F guage)are the most important to monitor. Or go one step further and install a EGT to properly monitor your A/F.
MOST aftermarket A/F guages are for show only, and DO NOT help in way, unless your looking for a light show
I have run a mechanical fuel pressure guage on the outside of the truck...right in the line of sight, and it has helped me twice in pinpointing a problem.
Not to mention there have been many of us here that have had a PUMP assembly go bad.
And for the second one..go with the TRANNY temp guage...IMO

an electrical fuel pressure gauge mounted in the pod, is worth about as much as an "off the shelf" A/F gauge. the only fuel pressure gauge worth a damn, is a mechanical type, which must be mounted outside, as Spiro suggested. still need to fill that hole
Fuel PSI gage is not telling me anything if I already have an EGT or A/F guage. If you are down on fuel psi then you are up on EGT and a/f will lean out.EGT guage is another good one [have one on my diesel],but put it so that it reads more than one cyl and AWAY from the cats!!!
