Silver X did say "dual filament" although by definition there are no filaments in a true HID bulb.
Hidkits are working on a way to change the focal point of the bulb thereby giving the ****ionality of a low/high bulb.

I spoke to William and Mark about it and they told me that they did have a prototype of it but ran into some kind of a glitch that has delayed the release of it. With the preformance of the setup they sent me though, I may not trade up, it is that good

Call them directly at 866-443-5487, they can give you more info than I can.

Thumbs up

LightningKid,

You said "Yes" to a question whether you were refering to Xenon, but I thought you were talking about HID? Did you do Xenon or an HID kit? I've known of people that have done an HID kit but they of course sacrificed high beams. And there's no comparison in price, Xenon being pretty cheap.

100% Xenon = HID.

30% Xenon/70% Krypton = HID-look-alike blue bulbs.

HID look-a-likes are not true Xenon blubs.

I did HID without getting rid of high beams, see my pictures above. The blue bulbs visible below are the high beams, the reflective covered one above is the HID low-beam.

Cool

Family Ride,

Yes, it is a true HID. I chose not to use the crystal eyes lamp fixture as it did not appeal to me. As a result, I did lose the high beam function but the preformance is so much better on low beam that I don't think I'll miss them.
I did a conversion on a Thunderbird housing a few years back using Mark 8 parts and never did use the high beams again so I felt perfectly comfortable with losing the high beams on my truck.

I'll be the first to admit that this is not a cheap mod but the gains are worth it to me. I have tried several variations on the tried and true halogen bulb with mixed results varying from burnt wiring to fried headlamp housings to premature bulb failure while never coming close to the preformance of HID. The set-up I did in my T-Bird gave me 3 years trouble free until I sold the car (I kept the setup of course!)

Hi Wayne! How is that new '01 treating you? Unfortunatly I do not have pics but I am more than willing to meet you half way sometime to show it to you though! I am going through major 'L withdrawl now that spring is here..... Maybe if things go well (Profit Sharing) I can do another Lightning for '02.

I do come here often, this site is a hard habit to break, I do not post alot though as I don't like to be involved in the B.S. that is here these days.... things sure have changed alot
Do you still see Steve or Mike these days? I am sure that Mike is busy doing all kinds of trick projects. I don't know if there is going to be another SVT Experience at DPG this year, but if there is, I'm sure I'll see them there

Hey LK
The '01 is hanging in there so far, too soon to tell, but is very nice.
I see Mike from time to time, but haven't seen Steve in a while.
All the BS really keeps alot of the originals from this forum away, unfortunitely!
Let us know if you hear of another "Experience" being planned, it sure would be great.
