If you can go down to 15" here are some wheels available down to 3" widths.

Think some of the Cobra's are using them.

Post Front runner size tires??

Ok guys, in my quest to go faster I now am wanting to know what would be the skinnest size tire I could put on a 16x8 inch rim.

I'm going to go with the weld pro star XP's for the track. with a 16x10 in the back and a 16x8 in the front. there the smallest rims I can find that are light weight.

Any other Idea's.

RTKilla,
I believe you can fit 15" in the front because of the size of the rotors only being 12.1" in front... Smallest would be 15x3.5 and the tire size would be 165R15... That is what all the Mustangs run with...
Otherwise if you want to stay with 16" and want the skinniest tire it would be 205/60R16 or you can use 215/60R16 for better price...

Thumbs up

Joe-
Check with Bambino over on the HALO board at www.nloc.org. He had some on Welds that he used a time or two. He could probably give you the size.

I was just putting my 99 back to stock and I had the front wheel off. I figured let me try one of the 15 inch rims I got to try to fit on the rear. A 15 inch rim does not fit on the front either. It hits the caliper. You will have to remove some of the caliper to make it fit. Not anywhere near as much as you have to take off the rears, but since the front do most of the stopping, I'm not sure I'd do it. What I would do is get a 16x6 inch rim. You could fit a 215 tire on it and it will be thin, and there are plenty of 16 inch 215s that are load rated to hand;e the weight of the trucks. Most Town cars use 215s and 225 on a 16 inch rim. And just so you know Joe, I talked to Weld at the WFC (since they were right next to us) and the XPs are not ready yet in any size other than 15s .
