Post Don't mess with this Excursion!!!

Article in the new "Truckin" has an Excursion that is running 12.8 @ 138mph in the 1/4!!! Not even using propane!!! That could be embarrassing!!!!

Question

I just read that article last night as well... Kinda find it hard to beleive, but then again I have been known to be wrong before... That trap speed does seem quite high for the time and the type of vehicle...

I know what it takes to get a 3400lb car down the 1/4 at 134+mph. How much does an Excursion weigh? 6000lbs? I'd say that would take 800rwhp easily to go 138 through the traps.

I have to question that trap speed. i have run a 12.8@108 in a 6000lb truck with 600rwhp. i believe a diesel excursion is in excess of 7000lbs

12.8 at 138 doesn't work. I think they meant 12.8 at 108. Unless he launched, dialed a dell phone number and then hammered it again.

I have a 2000 excursion w/ v10 it has alot of low end and could tow my home town. And rips right to the 100 mark no problem. But its not laying any smoke shows or getting sideays unless the Fire stones blow out!

yzfr6- How did you get your Excursion up to 100 mph? Do you have a chip in it or something like that? Mine is limited at 95, got it up that fast with no prob in Montana on a vacation, and we were towing a pretty big pop up camper with it.

With EXTENSIVE mods the Big Ex possibly could be 12.8 capable I suppose, but @ 138 mph? Uh, NO...138 mph might be the overall top speed, but there's no way its a 1/4 mile trap speed.
