I work on these monsters all the time.
A full boat 4x4 psd excursion is about 8,000 lbs curb weight.
I have seen these trucks with mods run the et shown, not the mph though.
Figure on 550 to 650hp and about 1200 to 1400 +ft lbs through the driveline. Remember this is only to about 3200 rpm max too.

I can't imagine the 4R100 lasting too long under that punishment. Or any other part of the driveline for that matter. Twist, snap, crackle, pop!

It would be unreal with propane.

Excuse my lack of knoledge here but are propane powered cars and trucks more powerful than gas or diesel? The last year or 2 i have started to see these all over, but whats the advantage of propane?

Thanks

Brian

go here to see the truck and it's dyno runs, but they don't list the times. The times are in the new "Truckin" mag...

http://www.dieseldynamics.com then click on the "Ford" and then look for the link for the "Therminator Module" and it will take you to the page with a pic of the truck and it's pulls on the dyno.

Later,
Roger

Barto24, propane on a diesel is like nitrous on a gasser. Propane powered vehicles aren't very "performance oriented", or none that I've seen are anyway.

It has a Power Stroke in it. Got the mods from a place called Diesel Dynamics.

This just could be BS....just maybe. Come on, a 7-8k lb. truck running ? 12.8 @138, you couldn't get a driveline to last two runs. UNLESS, its a rocket powered Excursion, thats why the mph is all f*^%>ed up.
On a different note and unlike the last A TRUE ONE. I rented a '24 V10 motorhome in AK and had it up to 95mph, it was impressive going up very steep hills. I will say the engines got plenty down low.

we weighed Dad's excursion 1/2 tank of gas... and that is like 50 litres of gas 100 ltrs when full maybe... It was 7660 lbs... weighed it at the flakeboard factory near where I live... buddy of dad'd was working and he let us on the scale. His is a V10 Limited every option... towing pkg mirros everything!

The truck that did the 12.8 is a diesel so it will be heavier BUT it was putting out over 400 horses and a monster 600+ tq on the DYNO! I won't say it isn't possible for these numbers of 12.8/130 some mph but I wou;dn't want to be driving... pop's Excursion takes a freaking mile to stop from 70 mph let alone 130 some.

Hope this info is useful

James
