RETRAX critique
I have ahd my Retrax for almost a month and the 900$ price has not left my mind yet. I have seen a few draw backs to the cover. I knew my 4 wheeler would be close fitting but I have to run the tailgate down now I don't really like that. The rails where the bearings slide rust up between uses. Grease would suck dirt and get on my cargo at times. There is no good access to the rear allen adjuster screws. Don't exactly love the clamps but cannot knock them until I think of another way to attach it. It doesn't seal the rear to the tailgate the rest seems water tight but the rear seal is lacking it should be thicker and come over farther. I like it a lot and it gets a lot of attention.

VERY not-waterproof!!! As I just found out last night... Still, probably more waterproof than no cover at all.
I agree with you about those rear adjuster nylon bolts - don't even try to turn 'em once the cover is installed! There's just no way it's gonna happen. So I have some extra looseness back there, I don't think it affects anything.
Overall, I'd say I'm 80% happy with it. Along with the above flaws, the lock is ridiculously unsecure, with I think three pins? I could probably pick it in ten seconds.
I don't want to come across as totally Retrax-bashing though, 80% happy isn't too shabby for someone as particular as me.

try putting 303 aerospace protectant on your rails--this is a vinyl conditioner but also works on the rails to keep down rust and helps to keep smooth rolling on top. i have a roll-n-lock cover and use 303 for protection and lube for rails.

I adjusted the rear allen head nylon pieces with a set of needle nose pliers (gently, and without the clamp in place.)
Washed the truck yesterday and did not spray on top the the Retrax. I used Windex like the instruction sheet said.
Added a piece of Camper Shell tape to the top edge of the tailgate to help seal out dust. I could use the tailgate seal they sent because my BedRug covers the hinged area between tailgate and bed.
Don't feel too bad about the price. I took off a ******* cover that I had over $650 in to put on the Retrax. Now I need to sell the ******* cover.

There should be quite a few, posted to other threads on this board. Just search for "retrax" and that should bring them up. Feel free to ask if you have specific questions about the cover.
