Lightbulb 99 SHOCK NUT DOES NOT FIT BILSTINS SHOCK

Changed the rears to 01 Bilstins today. Had parts man check nut part number as Bilstins do not come with upper bushing or nut and washer. He said they were the same. THEY ARE NOT. The shaft on the Bilstins is bigger and the 99 nut is too small. When you get these shocks get the upper bushing kit and nut also.
After racing tonight my initial impression is that I had less wheel hop and the burnouts were more smooth. It's had to say if they gave me more traction because the berametric pressure was off 20 milibars and the truck made less horsepower than last week and ran .15 slower. Still I think they are an improvement and worth the 32.95 each expense. I have 40K on my truck and the shocks we took off were fine. The shock on my 93 never did wear out and I had 164,000 on them when I sold the truck.

NOELVM, Yes I learned that the hard way. still do not have my bilstein shocks in the L because of those rear insulators. fronts come with the package but rears do not. but my parts guy figures they just left them out so he orders another set rears only to come in with no insulator nut. If anyone orders rear 2001 bilsteins for their 99/00 L order part # F65Z-18197-BB so you get the right 20mm insulator nut. 99/00 size is 18mm insulator nut. I will not have this part until monday and then I can finally get these shocks in my L after 2 weeks of waiting. thanks for the review NOELVM. later 95rcobra.

I bought the Edelbrocks AIS shocks, had the dealer put them on during 30k service. I don't like them. When I lean in a corner and hit some bumps, they open up and lose control,
I am very interested in the Bilsteins. I would have bought them before but the dealer told me they cost $150 EA.

MadMax : I am glad someone else has the same idea, I thought I was just being picky. So I am waiting definite results from others before I go buy the german shocks. Then I have to get some ramps, then find my shock wrench, thennnnn .
