I was there yesterday till about 3:30 Spiro went to a 100 shot and found out that 100 shot refers to the number of pieces that an aluminum drive shaft explodes into when the nox turns on. The needle bearings shoot all over. There was no real damage to the truck but the drag racers out will have to deal with the axle wrap under power. The other issue is that these drive do not appear to fit real well. You all may want to paint these things to make clearance problems real apperant.

On the brite side he brought the stock one as a spare.

I have seen several reports of the Ford Aluminum shafts failing. Sounds like the steel are best for drag racing and the aluminum would be ok for road racing.

Do you mean to tell me that Ford has once again created a part that fails and/or breaks when you use it for its intended purpose....naaaawwwwwwwww that can't be. Bet they won't offer to replace it either!

I have a little trouble puting the blaim on Ford when Spiro makes far more torque than the stock springs were ever designed to accept. This is coupled with the traction generated by drag slicks on drag race track. He is pulling accelerations close to twice what my truck pulls with stock tires on street concrete.

The Ford gaurentee is that Spiro can keep all the parts that that he can find after the BANG. Welcome to racing

Are you kidding? It's intended purpose? Ford does not expect you to throw 100 shots of nitrous on your vehicle. You cannot expect every component of the vehicle to hold up to all kinda of crazy mods because the car was NOT designed for that kind of power.

When you start modding like that, especially at the level of power spiro is making, don't go crying to ford and saying that the car is "faulty". I bet that Spiro wouldn't expect that stuff to hold up, so I don't know why you do.

The failures I have heard about were on the street. With the amout of power and traction Spiro has this shouldn't have been too big of surprise. Traction bars will help some, a 4-link will cure it for sure.

Thumbs up

My CARBON-FIBER Driveshaft can handle 900+ hp (so was stated by the manufacturer). My Cal-Tracks-one year old- can handle ANY WIND UP-short of breaking a leaf spring.
So I figure being Pre-prepared, the only wind up I will encounter is my Blood-pressure after every pass down he 1/4 mile (or could that be adrenalin?) he,he, he.
BE PREPARED-For warned is for armed!!

Aluminum is a very poor material with which to build a drive shaft. I was astonished to hear that Ford put aluminum shafts in the '01s. You won't find any Pro-stockers running aluminum shafts. I know someone who can build you a steel shaft that won't break for about $350. If you want the info, send me an e-mail.
