There is a company in New Jersey that is working on a brake kit for the Lightning.

the page is www.gtrotors.com

Give them a call and they will take your name and call you when they are done....im sure if we get enough people together maybe a group purchase?

Was wondering if you could buy just pieces of the brembo kit.But I have the measurements and the required pieces for the one that I am protoing. Will be 13in 1.375 thick and weight is about 6 lbs ea. Since they have a directional cooling vane I think they will cool better.Even thou the brembo kit has no fade to them either.I use the same rotors on the Gen1 and have not had any fade or rotor cracking. And believe me I have tried.

What calipers would you use? Seems like thats got to be a huge part of the cost.

That all depends on what you want.IE.,alcon 4 piston 6 piston,Wilwood straight 4 piston or staggered, aerospace or?At this time I am not going to say, will have to wait for me to finish the project. But I have researched some of the calipers and the brembos seem to have the most expensive pads some go over 300.00 where for mine I am trying to keep pad price below 75.00.Plus the seal placement on the brembos is located in the stock position [next to pad back]so the heat transfers rite to the seal and piston, where as the alcon the seal is more to the inside and somewhat protected from direct heat. Not that I am trying to knock the brembos just stating what I have seem. That it for the tease now you will have to wait and see.
But what about the stock rotors slotted and dimped? No interest?Stan

I looked at buying the Brembo kit piece-meal, but it ends up costing way more then the $3K kit price.
The Brembo 14" rotors are $359/each and Brembo calipers are $1000/each, so that's already $2700 and you stll need the hubs and mounting brackets.

But using the Brembo rotors with cheaper calipers is a great idea.
Though if Stan couldn't fade his 13" x 1.3" setup... no one can. You mean 16 lbs, right? (6 lbs is lighter than most Composite 13" rotor!)

Stan, sounds like you have already decided on calipers... but if you haven't looked into the new Wilwood 6-piston caliper... I recommend them. Heard lots of good feedback from people.
And my race shop sells a 13" kit with those calipers for $1700 (not for the L).

If you're going to custom fab a set,

1) will the caliper clear the 99-00 wheels?
2) can the rotor be fit onto the 99 hubs given they have a different diameter lug than the 00 and 01?

Lots of questions, I know, but so far there doesnt seem to be anything both easy and cheap oh well.

Have not made my mind up on the calipers yet but have narrowed the field down. And yes they do weigh more that 6 I think they are around 12#s.As for clearance you can [or should be able to use]a 17in wheel and they still will work, no grinding. The big problem is the dust seal finding a caliper with the needs and requirements that I am looking for is hard.If I had my choice and did not care about rebuilding it yearly or was only a race item set up I would use the staggered piston wilwood with the bridge.Pad selection is unreal anything you want and all pads are reasonable. Plus the other requirement is avail.[pads] after all where I go the majority of the people and parts houses have no idea what a lightning is let alone a brembo brake!! But they do know what a wilwood is.Thats not to say will be on my truck but I am thinking of ease of part avail.
Don't get me wrong brembo is one of the finest and you pay for that. But I am a person who enjoys making one off stuff but still affordable to the masses.Plus I am not rich.If I could afford them,I would have the trickest brake set up around period. Alcon 6 piston or Brembo 12 piston and stagered 4 piston rear. But to use a fixed caliper on the rear of our trucks you have to eliminate the C clips. So as for now it would have to stay floating.Stan
