Question L-Owners. Why?

L-Owners,

I seen something today that I just can't figure out. I don't know, maybe it's me. I drive a tractor-trailer. Ok. Heading south bound 95 going to Baltimore. So I see this black L coming up on my left. I'd say 00',01' maybe. Here it comes looking good till it passes me. Here comes the problem. The L had a cap on the back painted the same color. Now I know it's not my truck. The owner can do what ever he wants. But why on a Lightning? Why on one of the most beautiful sport trucks to have come out in a long time. It took the tough look out of what the truck means. I have a 97 4X4 ORP. I can see that with a cap (not that it will get one). It just looked to gawdy for me. I love the L's. Best looking truck I ever seen. When you look at a L. It says don't F^(K with me. It's a truck with an attitude. I'd love one, but I pull a trailer full of quads. Anyway. L-owners please keep them real and nasty. That's it. Just wanted to post my thoughts. And you guys have fun at Hooters this Sunday. Becareful to and from the meet. As for me, I'll be in E-Town for the Matco Spring Nationals. Go Ford. Go Force.

I agree with you. I haven't seen a capper on a Gen II yet (several on Gen I's) but it would be a huge detraction from its looks.

My brother said the same thing. Said he saw a Silver 2000 in Fort Worth with a capper too, not a bed lid like I have. He said it could have been a very good clone, but doubted that it was. I don't know why anyone would want to do that. Perhaps he had some nice stereo setup in the bed, for show or something.
Otherwise, seems like a waste of money to me.

I almost got one, and I may yet still. They are great for when you have (want) to drive across the country, having driven to Florida and back...

Besides, it just puts more salt on the wound for the other guy.

Remember, it is still a truck.

Zeus,

No, this had the glass windows and everything. I could see right inside of the bed. Nothing going on in there. And your right . It is a waste of money. Such a pretty truck. I can think 0f 50 million other things to do then a cap. By the way Zeus, sweet looking truck. Good luck with it.

Tundra,

Yea, your right. I understand that. It's just a shame. It just doesn't look right. But in no way am i saying that whoever gets a cap for the back of there L is an a$$. It's just like the guys who put them little tires on their Hondas that stick out a foot. It just doesn't look right. But, that's cool. It's my opinion.

No problem here, except I dont think its quite as bad as a honda with wide tires. As long as it looks nice, not an "Uncle Jesse" type shell. You know the kind with the broken fiberglass windows with rusted metal latches.

don't drive your "big rig" thru the Miami area. there's one down there that might make you lose control of your truck or your bodily functions, or something

Hey, don't mess with my buddy BullDog...

I'm sure the guy with the cap is one of those, "it's just a truck" people, or something....

CAPPER? AHHHH, we call that "camper shell" in Bama, LoL!

Now I get ya. Well, the fiberglass bed cover rulz, though, as on Zeus' "L"! I am contemplating getting one for my black '99.

Worst thing I ever seen on a Lightning was a Gen1 Red that had a welded in "cage" similar to what plumbing trucks use. Come to think of it I think the owner was a plumber...WHACK!

Cool

Agree with Tundra, its a truck, not the Mona Lisa. I bought mine to tow my boat, not to take to car shows, and if I needed to cap it I would. You make my payments, you can tell me how to decorate my truck. Hell's bells, there's a yellow Lightning with Servicemaster signs on it driving around Santa Barbara. Beats the hell out of driving a V-6, and its a write-off. Get over it.

I was going to put a cap on my 99 so my dog could ride in the back safely. Good sense took over and I realized how bad that would look. I think the dog likes riding up front better anyhow. He enjoys sticking his head out the window, putting noseprints on everything, and drooling on the upholstry.

Perhaps one of these days I will pick up a G2 for the dog, caps don't look as bad on those ones.

Yeah caps just dont cut it, Thats why I bolted a hydraulic dump bed in the back of mine. I also have 4x6 sheets of plywood on the sides so I can load up more. Now I can just back up to a home where I'd be doing a roof tear off and throw the shingles right into the back of my truck.

LOL, what....what!

It's a truck dammit.

I keep telling myself that, but I wouldn't take it to the store today, because it had rained earlier, and the street was still wet in spots.

This whole topic IS really funny, if you think about it.
