There used to be an RT Package for the engines that would give a 1500 Dodge with the 5.9L motor just over 300 hp. It was factory installed option in 96' when I was looking to replace my 94' Lighning and it ran around $1900. Anyone else ever hear of this?

Supposively R/T = Road/Track
Basically, current Dakota R/T's are nothing more than 17" rims, 5.9L motor, 3.92 gears, Fender Flares, and lowered slightly, maybe a few other things..

The current rummor (still) is that the 5.7L Hemi will be in our Dodge's by 2003-2004...

The guy who burned my computer a few weeks ago (uses Chrysler's equipment to do this) told me that in 2003 the 5.7L will be out in trucks... but I've also heard 4.7L HO will (I'm hopin for 5.7 )

The 4.7L is actually faster in the 1/4 than the 5.9 R/T with the same set up, alot of the R/T guys get picked on because of this, but the mods are there for the 5.9...

Damn, I didnt want this to be that long.. but..

Enjoy the new pointless info heheh

Dodges version of SVT,

The dodge dakota R/T is either regular cab or x-cab, 4x2 with the 5.9L engine and 255/55/17 tires. They cost in the lower $20k's. I think they are rated at 260hp, which is kinda crappy for a 5.9L. The trucks run stock in the 15's. Though some people claim higher or lower, average is in the 15's. Personallly I like the trucks and I think they are good sport trucks, especially for the price and amount of aftermarket hopups for it. Though many people will not agree with me.

Could someone please explain the Dodge Neon R/T, why?

Pretty much dodge just likes to take every vehicle they make and do an R/T version. R/T stands for Road and Track. kinda like SVT, but SVT is more seperated from ford as far as there designs are concered. they have allot more fredom to do and make what they want.

Basically the Dakota R/T is that fastest R/T that doge makes next to the viper R/T. Bone stock they run about a mid 15 with extended cab, and a low 15 with a regular cab. there no threat to th lightning population unless they have some serios cash into the motor and a bottle straped to it. I personally think the dakota is a nice truck but dodge screwed over allot of people when they made them. originally they where only supposed to make a limited production of them like the lightnings but that stopped after they saw the demand for a sporty truck. my friend had one of the first dakota's around and it was a nice truck, but it was a dog once you got going. When he first got it I had a 97 GTP and I would smoke him. off the line the dakota can keep up with the best of them, but once you get going you can see where the L will stretch her legs out and put some spots between the two. Don't worry about those dakota boys, just put a chip and filter in and you'll be able to smack 99% of them out there.

I think dodge screwed themselves over more by continuing to use that 5.9L engine. For it's size it's not powerfull, and we all know Dodge does has better engines it could use that could easily put a regular cab R/T in the 14's.

R/T = Regular Truck.

As for the Neon R/T, can you say "SVT Focus"?

some R/T's are quick, i know a lot of guys runnin 12's nd 13's in theirs, i'm runnin 13.8 right now, which should be a good run to a stock L, it true that dodge will put the 5.7 hemi in the rams and dakotas in 2003, from what i hear, well over 300 hp, we'll see when they come out, the L still impresses me, but i'll stick with my dak
