I bought my L at Arl Hts Ford and have had it serviced there. I would not go there for service. I had the clunk, they welded the front arm ( didn't disconnect the battery like they are suppose to ). I had it in 3 times for an alignment. It has been in 5 times for squeeky brakes ( I still have it ). They turned the front rotors when the squeek is in the back. They charge $9.00 per quart for Mobil One oil ( Total oil change was $75.00 ). I'm going to victor ford in wauconda from now on. Sorry for rambling.

WOW!...Lived in the Chicago area for 20 years. Glad I don't anymore.

I've got a great SVT dealer in "Kings Ford" Symmes Township Ohio.

Waconda and Fox Lake aren't that far. I would try them!

Can't help much with the dealers in Illinois. I guess I'm lucky. I brought my truck in for the first oil change, and told them about my problems. They seemed very concerned and did everything they could to resolve my issues.

What's the big deal about SVT Certified?
I take mine to a Lincoln-Mercury Dealer across the street from work because they have excellent service. The mechanics come out and practically fight over who gets it, and the overall level of butt-kissing from the techs is excellent from catering to the Lincoln owners.

I'm glad this thread came up so I can print it out and give to my dealer for some leverage with SVT come warranty-work time. Maybe my service manager just got hold of a real **shole at SVT the day I was there. All I know is that they were denied by SVT and weren't lying about it because they WANTED to do the warranty work.

Thumbs down

Gforce,

If you like the dealer you bought it from, take it there to be serviced. There is no such thing as SVT "certification" for technicians.

Any Ford, Lincoln or mercury dealer can work on your car.

Saleen is correct. The SVT "certified" bit is foe Dealers...sales departments, and has nothing to do with the service department. If you look at page 15 of the SVT Lightning Owner's Guide Supplement it states: "The F-150 Lightning or any SVT can be serviced under warranty aat any Ford-Lincoln-Mercury dealer nationwide"</font>
Yeah, I saw that in the manual myself. Like I said, my selling dealer has been nothing but friendly to me and I like them. However, when I took it in for the free alignment that Ford provides within the 1st year or 12k miles, the tech was right in the middle of the job and the service manager walked up and said to the tech they had to "eat this job" because SVT refused to honor their warranty work. He was nice and said it was their fault because they should've checked first.

On another occasion I was talking with the parts manager at the same dealer. I said it sucked they couldn't work on my truck. He said, "Yeah, it's because we don't have any certified mechanics."

It never ceases to amaze me the different stories we're told as a group. Oh, and the one guy I know HAD to go to the SVT cerified dealer for his I/C replacement and it was pretty far away.

Hmm.. Conflicting reports on Arlington Ford. Victor ford is the only dealer without negative comments. Maybe I will take a day off for a road trip.

MisterP - Sessler was the nearest dealer that would give me X-plan pricing. Their sales and service staff are pretty cool, but I don't think they know how to service Lightnings.

Tampa-Harley - Point well taken. It is surprising how companies stay in business with ****ty business practices.
