What is this crud on (in) my paint?!?!?!
Maybe go see your dealer first. Your truck is new, so if it is a paint flaw you will be covered under warranty. It really could be a paint problem. Check inside the doors, under hood etc. with a magnifying glass. If it shows up there it's not the enviroment. It's the paint. And if so don't take no for an answer.
Looks like either an acidic or alkalide stain. My suggestion is to go to a chemical company ..yes...I said a chemical supplier..ie: janitorial supply store.I had a similar "etch" on my older F150 and it turned out to be alkalide staining from my pressure cleaner.I used a product called "sheila-shine" which I heard is a nation-wide product used by window cleaners. Another product called "LITE" by crown chemical also works. Its worth a try.
I work at a car wash and I see that type of thing all the time. Usually from cars that are parked in parking garages all day (run-off from floors above). Nothing gets rid of it. I guess take it to a body shop and shell out the cash, if you like your truck enough. (I do)

I had the same problem with my 2000 Black L. I had to Buff the paint with a foam pad with a lite compound then wax. The water spots will come out with a low speed buffer.
Never leave your truck near sprinklers or wash your truck in the hot sun! Always wash and wax in the shade!
Good Luck, DJY

Black, I can probably help you with this one. Get some White Vinigar, water, and water bottle. Fill water bottle with 1/4 of vinigar and the rest water. Spray on spots and just rub it off. I get stains like that on my race boat after racing the boat. We race these things in the dirtiest water and it leaves nasty crud on the boats and this does the trick. The team wipes the boat down and this what we use to get stains out. Outcome should be great. Let me know if it works.

Professional cut and buff. Key word is "professional"
Mine gets the same stuff on it from time to time. Not nearly as noticeable on white tho.
Mine gets spotting in the same place on the hood. It also spots on the passenger door. I always wonderd why the passenger door spotted more in a peticular area more VS the rest of the truck. Then one day I happend to be outside looking at the truck and noticed that the sun was reflecting off of the passenger side mirror right where the spotting was occuring. Nasty Mr sunshine was heating up the raindrops and amplifying the "spotting" affect. The back corners of my hood also spot faster. Perhaps this is because that is where the engine heat just sits and bakes the rain drops. But hey, all said and done..... nothing that some 4,000grit wetsand paper and a pass of the buffer won't cure.
I hate cutting and buffing. So instead of doing my whole truck at once, I usually pick out a problem area after I wash it, then spend 15 or so minutes fixing it. Last weekend it was the 4in mark in quarter panel caused by Mr lawnmower ...Grrrr.
I tried the "white vinigar" but it didn't work for me. I suppose it all depends on wether it is just a mineral deposit just sitting on top, or something like acid rain that actually slightly etched the clear

Okay, I just noticed that this crud is on my brand new front bumper, so there's no way it can be a paint problem.
So I’m going to take it the dealer’s bodyshop. I’m sure its a common problem in this area and they will know exactly what it is.
Thanks for all of the responses.

Though it really doesn't look like it (I've never really looked for it on black trucks), it could be "Rail dust." It's most common on the lighter color vehicles because it leaves orange stains. And the beauty of it? Warranty pays for it to be removed if you're under 12,000 miles.
Good luck</font>

Don't know about your spots on the black paint. I haven't seen those on mine yet and I'm still going through love bug season down here yet. Had some bird bombs on there but they came right off. First thing I did with my truck as soon as I got it home from purchase was clay it and 2 coats of cherry wet wax. Maybe that has helped me. I don't think you can keep enough coats of wax on a black truck. I plan on waxing once a month or so.
